IBM T42p 2.13Ghz for $2250?

Thread Starter
I am looking for T42p or T43. And I found out a wed site selling IBM T42p for USD$2250. 2.13Ghz, 60GB HD@7200rpm, 1GB RAM, ATI T2. The wed site is: http://www.buyphotovideo.com/proddetail.php?prod=081
Dose anyone got an experience for shopping on this wed site before?
They are selling all the stuffs like over 40% off.
I am really confuse.

It's actually only a 2.1ghz, non Sonoma. Price doesn't seem that out of whack. Couldn't find any reviews on the vendor though.

I know it is not sonoma, But IBM still selling it for $3999

It might be much more economical to look at something like this:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...146-054&depa=3

and upgrade the RAM and the CPU yourself. Do you really need a 2.1 GHz PM, what do you plan on doing with it; it can't be gaming. If for business apps, the 1.7 will be plenty fast. And it's always better to go with a reputable vendor like Newegg.

I just so interesting why this wed site are selling notebook so cheap. Are they trying to scam people?

Aw man, thanks a lot. I just gobbed up my keyboard with drool!

I can't seem to find any reviews on this place. It wouldn't make me feel comfortable. Might I suggest contacting them, however, and see how timely and tactful their response is.

While we are on the topic of reputation of venders what do you guys think about this ebay seller for IBM.... their reviews and rating seem to be extremly good

Looks like he's been there for a while. If 99/100 people who dealt with him were happy with the transaction, I'd say your chances are pretty good

Seems good to me.
Actually it doesn't matter if 99/100 people were happy with what they sold/bought, it is items of similar value to the one you're looking at have been bought/sold. Often times people will buy/sell items for very low amounts, just to get a good rating, then go ahead and sell a whole bunch of high value items and never deliver.

Hunterzyph: considering what they sell are laptops mainly.... and that in the last 12 months over 2000 people give them postive and only a few give them neutral/negitive rating... what would you say?

Ranger0900: which store are you talking about? And where did you find the rating?

found it on ebay.... I really want an IBM notebook, but I am not willing to pay more than 2K for it. So I did some research and ended up finding this place.

Re Ranger0900: I know this guy, he's one of my favorite seller on ebay, but the wed site that i posted was much cheaper than what "pcandcamera" selling. And they also selling another laptop that lower than 2K.
yea, the only problem that I have with buying from that site you posted is there are no reviews and no database on this guy. I have no idea how to tell if he is trustworthy of not. I will probably go with the whole EBAY seller.

I just watched a lot review from the other forum, and i am pretty sure they are trying to scam people. The payment they accept only: campany check, wire transfer...no credit card and paypal

LOL alright well then that does it... the Ebay store works for me.. and realisticly they are selling them as cheap as they get, I havn't found anything that even comes close to how low they are and how well respected they seem to be.
