Ok. I've been playing with full HD copy (using Paragon Hard Disk Manager) this weekend. I have 3 extra HDs to play with. Did it by putting two drives into external enclosures and then copying from one to the other. I noticed that one of the drives makes more noise than others. That made me suspicious.
In the end I put each HD into laptop as a main HD and booted. The one that made more noise in enclosure caused buzzing sound in TM8104. It's that same buzzing sound that some of you described. It's hard to localize at first whether it comes from HD or from DVD drive or from power circuits. Well, it comes from both HD and power circuits.
I then did another experiment and put that HD into TM8003. Lo and behold, same buzzing sound.
So, it's now 100% confirmed that the source of buzzing sound is indeed a hard drive.
I'm going to wipe that drive now and dispose of. It's one of the older Toshiba 60G 4200rpm drives (MK6021GAS).
Hope you find this information helpful.
