They should have a setting in the options where you can auto disable the dock if certain programs are running, so that could not happen.

Let me know if you guys have any solutions.

I use Y'z Dock and I don't have this problem.. so try that.

go to www.stardock.com

I used the desktopX which put the widgets on the screen (temp, system stuff, clock, and calandar).

I used objectdock (the free one) to load the application bar, which can go anywhere on the screen. AT that site there are icons and apps that you can get, free, and play with the desktop.

Objectdock has a version for $19.99 which has many more features, but I will play with this first before I pruchase the upgrade. Only wanted the dock to load apps like the MAC OS X.

for the battery

For those of you who use the purchased version of ObjectDock, you can create a separate dock for the system tray icons. I've done this, and it allows me to eliminate the taskbar entirely.

You need to install Microsoft .NET Framework for the battery app to work. You can get it from WindowsUpdate or Here

I'm enjoying seeing other people's desktops as I play with my new 9300, which I think so far is the best computer I've ever owned! My desktop is rather pedestrian, but I like it so far. I'm going back and forth on Wallpapers, I like to use images I've taken pictures of on trips. I have the WXGA screen. So far it's either:

Nice pics. I have tons of pictures (amatuer photog) trying to make it fulltime as I hate working in IT now. I have tons of pics from Panama Canal (was their in the Army) as well as thousands of pics from trips taken over the past few years.

Thanks, I take a lot of pictures when I'm backpacking or on vacation, only a few ones I think come out very good though. I'm really enjoying viewing my tons of pictures on my 9300, as it is by far the best monitor I've had. The colors are really dramatic. I tempted to use more colorful pictures for the desktop, but then my icons get lost in the busy-ness! Funny, I never was interested in using anything other than the basic blue background before for Windows. Now I'm having fun playing with it. Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of the text under the icons (using WinXP I mean..I see that using third party programs it is apparently possible)

Here is another one that I'm now kind of liking:

I only started using Irfan recently. After my trial copy of PaintShop Pro ran out. I had been using various trial versions of that for a long time. I got tired of having to finagle around with the thing timing out. I should just shell out the moola to buy it, and probably will at some point. But this IRfan is really great and it seems to do everything that I want to do without all the extra stuff that PSP has that I never use. I just want to crop, a bit of sharpen, and sometimes adjust the gamma. I sometimes need to do some red-eye fixing and haven't tried that with the IRfanview yet. It is a great program though.

Joshua, can you show a screenshot of both object bars on screen?
Hmmmm. I wonder if the .net Framework was my problem, too.
Objectdock works great...but I can't seem to get any of the sysstat dockets to work.
I've tried both a wireless and a battery config...I get something to show up in the dock...but it doesn't make a lot of sense....and none of the icons show up, either.
Might give DesktopX a shot.
I was playing around with Samurize ( http://www.samurize.com/modules/news/ ) last night but I think that's outta my "league"...for now. There are some pretty cool screenshots at their site.

BTW..an earlier poster said something about having problems while running games. Ihaven't run into any problems with objectdock and my games.

EDITED TO ADD: Wanted to share this screensaver/"animated" desktop background. Pretty cool...very trippy!

Heres mine as promised (dock is rklauncher) Visual style is milk 3.1. Programs you don't see: firefox, thunderbird, sunbird, vlc, trillian basic 3(milk skin). You can get everything from either deviantart, google, or aqua-soft.

Toy-Yoda, what are you using for the weather and system usage? Is that object dock or other programs like the battery monitor?

I mentioned Samurize in my post above and took a longer look and still decided that it's too much for a semi-noob.
I did find something called Konfabulator (just do a google search) and it seems very easy to use. Comes with quite a few widgets and also the site has quite a few for download. I was able to quicly add weather, a calendar, the time from their basic widgets. Also added a widget for Baseball scores and an iTune skin that d/l's album art work to your mini player.
