Hey, it's Wesley again. I'm the one that omaha jumped all over for making a mistake on the maximum temperature in a ranting post I made a while back.
Seems it was my MoBo, and it was replaced and, all is fine. Or, was fine until my power supply shorted out and took the MoBo with it. I am on my 3rd power supply. I keep one as a spare now. :O) My temps rarely, if ever, get above 55 now.
If your power supply is arcing or sparking or making any kind of noise, other than fan noise, rma it or buy another one a.s.a.p. You risk frying your MoBo, too.
I, too, had a problem with losing internet connectivity, and found it to be the ethernet connector, itself, had worked loose from the MoBo. Sager soldered it and it is also fine now. I should mention that they did that after it was out of their warranty period and they offered me the choice of having them do it, or sending it in on the extended warranty. If you look up my old posts, you'll see...this is not my first Sager by any means...and I would buy another one without hesitation.
I received some heat for my post and some nasty emails, too. For those of you who sent them (the nasty ones), bite me. My lappy is fine now, is yours?
Omaha, this is for you. You seem to have some technical knowledge, and that's great. But, you're not doing these guys, or yourself, any justice by being sarcastic and demeaning to some of us just because we disagree with your or you don't like us or what we have to say. To brush off someone with a snide or condescending remark, just ain't right, and belittles the value of your knowledge and the positive contributions you make to this forum, and you have made some damned good contri's. Yes, I was angry-very angry, at the time and I did misquote the specs...it was an angry mistake, not a hateful lie.
Sager is growing by leaps and bounds, and that being the case, have some growing pains to deal with. BUT, their product is a quality one, regardless of the issues. My lappy has been on the floor of a Magirus semi truck pulling triples of diesel fuel, up the mountains on 1000 km of dirt roads from Dar-es salaam, Tanzania to Bujumbura, Burundi, and Kigali, Rwanda, Africa, as well as semi's to every State in the lower 48. (I own a trucking and logistics company) I've dropped it, sat on it, kicked it, spilled a myriad of liquids on it, and my Great Dane even crapped on it once. I've turned it on and used it in sub freezing temperatures like Bremerhaven, Ger. and Rotterdam, and in the sweltering 120 deg. heat of Oaxaca, Mex. It's got scratches under it, over it, and everywhere in between... Sager still fixed it. But, they had to clean the dirt encrusted screen first. LOL
So, be patient, professional, polite, and persistant. Document everything and fax or call them with every and any issue. Heck, I was all puffed up for a fight with them, for nothing.
Now, I've got to get my quarterly taxes done, or I'll pay a fine...
