Looks like my 80gig is a 5400rpm with 16meg cache!

So I just got my new laptop today and I fire it up and start checking out the specs. First thing I do is lookup my HD to see if its a 5400 since I ordered the 80 gig. I take down the serial and goolge it and this is what I get back:

WOW! Can this really be what I have?

My drivel is a Toshiba MK8026GAX according to my device manager.
Anyone else get this drive?

I have the 6026gax. Dont expect any unusual performance benifits from the 16 meg cache.

The Toshiba 5400rpm drives are not particularly fast for some reason, thus they put 16MB cache to keep up with other 5400rpm drives in the market. I think storagereview.com did an article on it 2 years ago.

Yah, the article you linked to in Toms Hardware shows that the 16MB cache doesnt make a big difference. This drive still trails behind the 7200 hitachi.
