I can't install my printer because i can't find this one file for my usb cable. It's called usbprint.sys

If you guys know where it is on my comp or where i can d/l it i'd appreciate it, otherwise i'll have to call Adam. I searced for it on the printer driver cd and on my C drive and no matches found. So where is it?

It should have been included in your drivers that came with the printer.

Their should also be a file titled usbmon.dll.

Well i bought the cable seperately from the printer. The cable didn't come with any software (but i don't think any do). I called the printer's tech support and they helped me try to install the printer but i couldn't do it w/o the file. They also helped me search for the file but to no avail. They told me to contact the computer's seller. So am i pretty much screwed? I can't find the file usbmon.dll either.

The cable should not have anything to do with your drivers.

What kind of cable are you using, I would assume a standard A - B usb cable?

What printer are you using? Make? Model?

Try the printer manufactures website for drivers.

Yeah i'm using a standard A-B usb cable.

Its an Epson Stylus C82 (came with rebates)

I'll try the site for the drivers hopefully i can figure something out.

*update*
I tried the drivers from the support site and it still didn't work.
I think i didn't get any usb drivers when Adam set up my lappy. I can't get my usb port set up. The last printer i had used the parallel port. So I think i'm missing something from Windows XP home. I also searched the CD's that came with the notebook and i can't find usbprint.sys

Go to the device manager and see if there are any ? marks beside any device.

USBPRINT.SYS is a WINDOWS file. Typically it is located in the System32\drivers\ folder and the \ServicePack\i386\ folder (if you have installed any SP).

Go get it from a friend's computer or better yet, pull it off your WinXP CD (search for it on there).

I think Myrkat is right, though i only have the recovery CD. I should have spent the extra 10 bucks and bought the OS myself and got the real version. The file isn't on the recovery CD, I guess i'll have to get the CD from a friend.
