Do you think it is worth the money?
I want to use it for general tasks as well as digital content creation and gaming.
I have looked at the zd8000, but I would like to have something a little more portable.

Looking at these figures, I say that, sure as hell, I'd pick nw8240 over any other HP options around $2000.

Thanks Tommi.
When I originally was looking the zd8000 looked like what I wanted to buy, but when I saw the nw8240 it had a smaller screen, but had the AT FireGL v5000, it was lighter, had way better battery life, and also has the option of a docking station. The nw8xxx also uses the Multibay II which gives some options.

I will keep you posted with what I end up buying. I could get the nw8240 within a few days once I place the order. I will eventually buy a 60 GB 7200 rpm drive when the become a little more available and the price drops a little, but I can live with the 80 GB 5400 rpm drive.

I would like to know if the nw8240 will generate significantly more heat because of the FireGL graphics relative to the Radeon X600 graphics chipset in the nc8230.

At work I am looking at the nc8230 and I am hoping to get the nw8240 in the next couple of weeks. I will update you when I order it.

Today, I loaded HL2 and I was very impressed. I was able to run it in 16:10 mode and it was smooth and graphics alooked great. The 2W speakers put out a lot of sound as well, more than I was expecting. Heat was not bad either. Of course I am comparing it to my Pro-Star 2200C which gets very hot. Anyway, It did better than I was expecting. At my work we are probably going to look at the nw8240 configurations (Probably the lower end of the 2) and the one I am looking at buying. I will post with more information when I have it.

Here are the specs of the nc8230 that I was using:
