I'm looking at buying an HP zv5405us from Best Buy. I want to know if I can upgrade the DVD/CDRW to a DVD+/-RW after I get it and if I can upgrade the CPU later.

I guess I can get the CPU from NewEgg, but where would I get the DVD+/-RW drive at?

Just make sure the CPU is an Athlon 64 DTR. You can not use the normal desktop chips. Someone on r3000forums swapped in a newer Mobile Athlon 64, however it locked itself at 800Mhz and would not change. Most likely due to no support for that chip in the BIOS.

Also, the drives are much cheaper on EBay.

One more question.

Which extended warranty should I go with? The BestBuy plan cost $249.99. And the 3yr HP is $179.99.

I have never bought extended warranty for a laptop, but if ever I were to get one it would probably be from the manufacturer rather than a third party - store.
