So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...

Any light leakage on these Samsungs? I just got my xps2 w/ the LG and have light leakage on top and bottom, bottom is worse.
Is there an industry standard of "acceptable" light leakage? Mine goes up about 1/2 inch on bottom on black screens.
Thanks

1/2" doesn't sound too bad, its about average I'd say.
Half-inch is normal...as long as everything else is fine (i.e. no sparkles, good color, no dead pixels) I consider myself lucky to only have a little 'light leakage', which is present on 99.99% of all LCD screens in the history of man.
Also, there is a persistent 'flavor' on these message boards indicating that the Samsungs generally have WORSE light leakage than the LGs, but LESS 'sparkle,' better whites, and duller colors...don't know if this is the case, but those are the predominant sentiments.
got my xps2 yesterday. haven't installed powerstrip yet, but i'm going to guess that it's an lg. light leakage on top and bottom, dull colors... looks washed out, and of course... sparkle. called the "xps" tech support today. VERY VERY surprised and pleased to have gotten a non-outsourced rep. told him about the problems and now dell is sending out a replacement machine for me.
should be here in about a week. hopefully that fixes the problem.

@dellbert, i cancelled the 9300 order. as the reviews of crappys screens got worse and worse, a home-built shuttle system via newegg started looking really good.

Got my 9300 yesterday! LG Screen/No Sparkles/Extremely little Light leakage on bottom/ Beautiful Screen. OMG I am so excited and happy
it's an lg. i lowered the brightness and gamma slighty and it looks alot better already. hopefully the replacement they send will have a kick ass samsung screen.
I just got the GEN2 with the Samsung LCD and was looking over what you guys are saying about the both screens (LG vs Samsung)....has anyone noticed a sort of "Mesh-like" look to the Samsung screens. I am not talking about the "sparkle effect. You can really notice it when there is a solid color and there is movement or even if you look at the screen and move your head? It looks like you are looking through a mesh, but when the image is still it is ok?!? I have seen this exact thing on other Samsung screens and it is really starting to bug me. Perhaps I am wayyyyy too picky, but even my old 8200 with the ultra-sharp UXGA screen seemed to have a smoother image quality. The one good thing about the Samsung is how bright it is....just a shame about the "meshy" appearance.

HULK...was your order through EPP or Home? I just spent a half hour in chat with a Dell Customer Rep threatening to return the system for non technical issues (saving $$ through EPP vs what I paid for, changing my financing from 90 dyas to 12 months etc.) The best he would offer is a 50.00 credit which I thought was a joke. You mentioned that instead of having to send yours back first, they sent you a new one...Im curious as to how that happened (warranty possibly? complete coverage?)
