I also would like a laptop with an Athlon 64 processor and a fast video card, but for some reason, I can't find any. But, to answer your question, consider this:

Battery Life:
The 7620 should be the worst on battery life at 1 Hour and 15 min. The 4750 and A2k should be a little better.

Gaming:
7620 (X800 256mb FASTER!)
4750 (9700 128mb slower)
A2K (9700 128mb slower

Weight/Portability:
7620 (9 pounds or more)
4750 (9.15 pounds)
A2K (7.5 pounds)

CPU:
7620 (P4 3.0 to 3.8)
4750 (AMD 64 3000+ to 3700+)
A2K (same as 4750???)

The Sager 7620 is the fastest of the three for gaming, however it is probably more expensive, and has the worst battery life, and I think the heaviest, and most expensive. Please correct me if I am wrong on any of these specs.

Hey there,

I will be carrying it along with me too.wireless comes second.music is also important. gaming is not that important.WHich do you think is better.

thanks

It is best to decide for yourself. You have to decide what is most important(weight, speed, size, sound, gaming, ect), and choose from there. Anyway, I am not an expert on laptops, I just am in the exact same situation as you. I am deciding between a Sager 7620 or an A2K, I'm probably gonna go with the 7620 simply because of the X800 graphics card. I LOVE GAMES

Wait and see if an expert can post something helpful here.

I think the A2K uses P4 CPUs.

About the laptops, the 7620 will definitely perform the best at games because of the graphics card, since th 9700 is pretty dated Mobile GPU. But it will also run extremely hot, and can potentially have lots of stability problems, because of the P4E with TDP of > 120W (fastest versions), and also a graphics card with High heat output.

The 4750 will have better general performance, since with the A64 3700+, you would have the best LT chip available on the market, which on some benchmarks, even beats intel's best non-EE desktop CPU, and gaming it won't perform too bad either. And it should run a lot cooler, with 82W output from the CPU and cooler graphics, you should have a more stable and longer lasting machine.

The 4750 does have notorious heat issues, although I believe that BIOS updates have basically eliminated them.

The A2k is a mobile athlon notebook with overclocked graphics card provided by asus. it is not a pentium 4 lappie.I think I will leave 4750 out . But I am still confused between the 7620 and the A2k.

devarshi84, you've posted this same or similar question in several places, please just limit it here to this thread...

...now about your question, I have the Z80K, which is the same thing as the A2K, however my 9700 is underclocked to 391/175, you can check out benchmarks with different drivers and some overclocking here: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=66384 I believe currently the Canadian A2K has an overclocked card in it, so I would imagine some of my benchmarks would be similar...

...however, right now there are much better notebooks out there for what needs you have listed...the A2K/Z80K is a heavy beast and is meant to be a desktop replacement, not a portable notebook...also, the 9700 is a dated card now (yes, it still handles most games fine, but there are newer better cards). The x700 alone is at least twice the card of the 9700, and the x800 and 6800 are even better. Currently no AMD notebook features those cards, but with the release of Turion they should. If the only reason you are getting it is the fact that it has an AMD processor in it then at least wait till the end of the month when hopefully a few Turion processors are out. If you must buy it now, then I strongly urge you to look at three of the new Sonoma notebooks out right now, the Acer 8104, the Asus Z71V, and the Sager 4880. No, they're not 64 bit machines, but they would eat my Z80K in gaming because of the better graphics card, and are much better in terms of battery life and weight.

HEy plageclochard ,

thanks for the reply. Yes I did post it in several fourms. BUt that was beacause I thought all the notebook forums are not interlinked.
