P.S. I too have a stuck pixel and it hasn't bothered me in the year I've had this laptop.
My intent was not to whine but to see what other like minded users would do in my situation. I'm beginning to think that you're right about keeping the laptop; my dad doesn't think I should worry about that one little pixel either. However, just about everyone else gives me grief about that pixel and asks why I don't just get a replacement. Could you post a picture of lappy showing your stuck pixel just to make me feel better?
(I would like to see pics of people's stuck pixels to know that I'm not the only person with one in the top center of the screen.)
BTW: I would love to do a good deed for the environment by keeping this laptop if you're correct about LCD manufacturing being quite destructive to the environment. Can anyone else back this up or provide more information about this? Despite my obsessive compulsive perfectionism, which makes it difficult for me to accept flaws in my possessions, I like to consider myself a free thinking, liberal, college student hungry for new information.
Also, I did call tiger direct and they were very polite; they offered an exchange when I told them about the pixel. I told them I am very happy with the machine overall but am not sure that I want to look at the green pixel while trying to watch movies and play games. I then thanked the guy and told him I was still considering my options. (Hard decision for me noting that I will be staring at this lcd screen for 6-8 hours per day every day for the next 2-3 years; guess I'll have to learn to love that green pixel.
Lastly, my laptop does make creaking noises when opening and closing the lid (especially when it is done slowly). Is this a tell-tale sign of future hinge cracks? I'm thinking so since my girl friend's computer (same model) does not make these sounds.
Anyway call me crazy but I'm seriously losing sleep
over this entire situation and I sincerely appreciate the feedback; please keep it coming.
