Hi,

I have been looking for laptops for awhile now with a price between 1000-1500 €. I will be using it for schoolwork, internet, music and maybe some movies. I'm also intrested in digital photography and drawing so I would probably use photoshop and Illustrator once in a while just for fun not proffessionally. I really like the dv1000 and V2000 series good price and nice design, I've read alot of reviews and most of them had 4/5. They both seem really good and would fit my needs except I'm a bit worried about how they handle programs like photoshop, illustrator or a CAD program. Are the Hp and/or Compaq completely useless and don't work at all when it comes to programs like these or are they just a bit slower than others.

Please help me with my problem and give suggestions about what I should do, If I choose the dv1000 or v2000 what setup should I buy or should start searching for other models?

They should be fine, it depends alot on how you define "completely useless", and also on the specs of the computer you purchase. Make sure you get more than 256mb of ram, and you should be ok

i have dv1000 with 1gb ram and when it comes to handling large res files for photoshop and flash it just doesnt do that good of a job it lacks behind greatly by the pathetic intel gpu ... i bought it exactly for the same reason ( having a great deal was besides the point ) apart from that i love the book its slick .. love the clear screen but at times ending up wishing i could do something to improve the graphics performance of this notebook
