Reinstalling XP without removing Dell partitions?

Hello,
Can someone please suggest me if it's possible or not?
I want to get rid of the junk that DELL preinstalled on my 700m inspiron. But I also don't want to erase the partitions containing DELL's original factory settings (Just in case!)
Removing programs didn't help much, also I tried few suggestions from other topics in forum about fast boot up/ shutdown & etc. But I don't feel much difference in boot times or task-switching.
There's almost nothing in startup except Dell, wireless, antivirus & touchpad.
It takes about 40 sec to boot & load the desktop screen. & task manager shows around 35-38 processes running.
I have centrino 1.8ghz with 512ram & 60gb 5400rpm drive. I also have Acronis TrueImage with me.

So is there any way to reinstall windows without touching the partitions. I'm an amateur when it comes to computers, so any help is appreciated.

If you delete any partitions, the restore option will stop working.

Follow these instructions to speed up your computer, and just leave those partitions alone.

Well,
I already have followed those steps, but couldn't feel much diifference yet.
BTW, I also want to preserve those partitions. I am asking for alternate way only where I can bypass those partitions (keeping them as they are) & install XP again.

I am planning to do a ghost image of the drive as shipped and then wipe it completely to do a fresh install of XP without the preinstalled stuff. This way you can do what you want but if you find you need the restore for something you can dump that image back on quick. Just a thought.

Thanks.
This is what I'm also thinking. Can anybody please confirm that Acronis TrueImage will restore my drive with bootdisc it creates & then with the image stored on dvd-r. I don't know exactly if all this would be worth but thanks for your suggestions. Keep them coming.

Ask them. Acronis staff go to this board answering questions just like that.
