I can't really tell the difference in gameplay or image quality between the 5680 and my desktop (2.8GHz P4, 533MHz FSB, 1GB PC1066 RDRAM, Radeon 9700 Pro, 21" Mitsubishi 2060u monitor).
There may be some actual differences, but I'm not a numbers man when it comes to games. If it looks, feels, and sounds the same on the laptop as it does on the desktop, I'm content.
And so far, Homeworld 2, SW:G, and UT2k3 have all lived up to that requirement for me today. I've still got boxes of unopened software to load (Rise of Nations, Unreal II, SW:Jedi Knight Academy, MS Money, SimCity 4, and so forth), and now I can do so with confidence.
Particularly now that I've discovered I can use more than two keys simultaneously (e.g., W+A+SPACE in UT2k3). That was my one big concern.
Now, all I need is for Logitech to release the MX900 (their Bluetooth mouse) and I'll be completely blissed out (I'm using an MX500 with the 5680, as I've come to love the MX700 on my desktop).
Best damned $3500 I've ever spent (except for the $6000 I spent on my TV!
