I'm typing on my 5680 I got this afternoon at 12:30 PM. I ordered it on the 3rd and it's living up to my dreams. I haven't seen any bad/dead pixels yet (*crosses fingers*) but I'll keep my eyes open.

I sacrificed real bananas to keep the dead-pixel fairy away .

Amen! No dead pixels here, and I'm loading UT2k3 and the patches as we speak. WOOT!

EDIT: Just tried a quick botmatch on Face3, 1024x768, all settings maxed. No lag whatsoever. Heaven! I'm in heaven!

I can't really tell the difference in gameplay or image quality between the 5680 and my desktop (2.8GHz P4, 533MHz FSB, 1GB PC1066 RDRAM, Radeon 9700 Pro, 21" Mitsubishi 2060u monitor).

There may be some actual differences, but I'm not a numbers man when it comes to games. If it looks, feels, and sounds the same on the laptop as it does on the desktop, I'm content.

And so far, Homeworld 2, SW:G, and UT2k3 have all lived up to that requirement for me today. I've still got boxes of unopened software to load (Rise of Nations, Unreal II, SW:Jedi Knight Academy, MS Money, SimCity 4, and so forth), and now I can do so with confidence.

Particularly now that I've discovered I can use more than two keys simultaneously (e.g., W+A+SPACE in UT2k3). That was my one big concern.

Now, all I need is for Logitech to release the MX900 (their Bluetooth mouse) and I'll be completely blissed out (I'm using an MX500 with the 5680, as I've come to love the MX700 on my desktop).

Best damned $3500 I've ever spent (except for the $6000 I spent on my TV! )

You can definitely get it refunded. If it was actually shipped labelled for Saturday delivery, and it wasn't delivered today, UPS guarantees a refund to the shipper. Call up Laura or someone at PCT and they'll take care of you.

Christ! i finally ordered!
ahhhh!!! 2445$ but you know...the initial shock will wear off. I will love every bit of this laptop. so here are the specs:

Sager 5680-S Notebook: 5680-S $2415.00
Display: UXGA Wide Angle View 15" LCD
Processor: 2.8GHZ P4 800FSB w/HT
Video: Radeon 9600 PRO 128MB DDR (M10-P)
RAM: 1024MB 400DDR Dual Channel (2-512MB)
Hard Drive: 60GB 7200RPM
Media Drive: 8X DVD/24X10X24 CDRW Combo Drive
#2 Bay Dual Battery Setup: Li-ION battery for Bay 2
Wireless Network: Integrated Wireless
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subtotal $2415.00
UPS Ground $30.00
Total $2445.00

I figured with the 2 week backlog.. and since i live in Cali the shipping wasnt too important. so 9-21-03 and approx 3 weeks until it arrives. time to play the waiting game ^^;

and now, as custom entails. a sacrifice to the nodeadpixel god.

Ordered mine (8890) sometime early in Sept (wife placed the order for me), shipped on the 12th, and hoping it gets here soon. Of course, mine is likely shipping further than any of yours, as I'm currently serving in Iraq. Packages from Il, where I live, can take from 6 days to 3+ weeks to get here. I'm hoping this package is a quick one.

Oh, and you know what comes next.....

A wOOt for Emrys 3d banana. Excellent dude.
What did you use to model it? and most importantly was it done on a Sager ?
Hey all!

I posted a message in the other shipping thread, but this one seems to have blossomed well since I left THE original sacrifice of the nanners, so I figured I'd put in my two cents regarding my order.

I ordered on the 6th of Sep, and received my tracking number on the 20th of Sep. It should arrive this week sometime. My friend should have everything installed over the weekend and have everything packed up and ready to go by Monday or Tuesday depending on the case she picks up for it.

I too am overseas in support of OEF. I recommend registering and insuring your package as I am. This lappy is too important to be losing and/or getting damaged without a little insurance. Also, if the package is registered it doesn't have to wait for a full pallet of mail for it to go on the bird. It can go on as an individual item, at least that's what the postal guys say at the camp I'm at. This process could take from 6 days to 2 or even 3 weeks depending on the flights (%*$! fly boys!) from Germany to our location.

...and of course, here's to the God himself!

Good luck to you all with the no-dead-pixel-God!

GO ARMY!!!

it was modeled in lightwave. i tried to challenge my friend to a 3dfight but they were busy... (3d fights are where you pick a topic..set a time limit of like 5-20minutes and go at it then compare results...much fun)

thanks for the compliment =D i wasnt fishing too hard for one was i? ^^; heh
