Too Much Noise?

I recently tried out a friend's Sager 4060 to help me decide on a new laptop purchase. I generally liked the machine--it ran fast, had good options, and looked pretty cool. One thing that struck me though was how noisy it seemed. Aside from the cooling fan (which I expect, but not THAT frequently), the CD drive made a loud chirping noise with certain disks, and the hard drive emitted a noticeable "clank" with every left-click. Someone suggested this last noise might be a real reason for concern.

Has anyone else out there noticed a similar noise problem with this or related Sager machines? Or are these just considered normal for a laptop? (This would be my first laptop to own, though I've used many others for work.)

Thanks.

I'd say the only noise Sagers make which is out of the ordinary (for a notebook) is the fan. It's pretty loud on a relative scale. Doesn't really bother me though. Nothing else about my machine is noisy though.

I have to admit the fan does seem to run a lot but I'd rather have it run a lot and be a little loud than let it overheat. Plus I don't think my hard drive makes a clank when I left click...but at times the cd drive does seem quite loud but it doesnt bother me that much in that I'm usually playing games if I'm using a cd and the game sound kind of just overlaps the noise from the cd drive...plus it doesnt get loud to often.
