I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I am experiencing very poor quality of playback when watching DVD movies on my DV1000 (just got it in January). So much so, I'd compare it to less than VHS tape quality playback. Or, another way to describe it, it is like when you zoom in too much on a digital picture or MPEG video past the standard resolution, and you start to see artifacting/graininess...
It does look better when watching WinDVD in half the normal screen size, but that's not an acceptable solution. I bought a widescreen 14" laptop, so I could watch movies in 14" widescreen, not in only 7" of the 14". And FYI, I am talking about original, legitimate store bought DVD's, not copies or rips of DVD's.
I personally am having the problem in both WinDVD (comes preloaded on the DV1000) and in the Media Quick Play, so it's not just a WinXP thing. I'm starting to think it's a problem with the Video Card.
I've talked with HP support, and they claim they have never heard of this issue before.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about. This is a screen capture from WinDVD from the movie The Matrix. Notice how grainy it is, especially in the background of the building, and the white effects in the dark spots on Neo's jacket.

However, under all other circumstances, the video quality in regular applications seems to be ok. Is anyone else noticing this DVD issue, or am I the only "lucky" one?
