DirectX game problem ??

I've got a problem with some DirectX game ...

With HL², Farcry, Painkiller and Track Mania Sunrise, i noticed some frame drop during playing (in a corridor with nothin etc ...).

Doom 3 runs versy smooth instead ... I don't think it's a Direct3D 3D engine problem, but a DirectSound problem ... I'm using the realtek HD onboard soundcard with 115 driver. I know that Doom 3 don't use yet EAX.

Do you think that driver of the realtek HD can be the problem ?
Problem is the same at 800x600 or 1680x1050 in the game above

Did someone notice better performance with the audigy or already have this problem ?

I'm using 71.84 driver, XP SP2 and all update for the game and th OS.

thanks !

I don't think anyone has an answer to this problem, I have made several posts about stuttering in games without any true solution it's very annoying as I had hoped the 9860 would be a good game system comparable to a desktop, but my old 2.6 P4 Radeon 9600 is better which really sucks.

I think that it is possible with an audigy card ... Someone tried this ?

i seem to recall in my research that this was a problem with windows XP more than anything related to the card itself. I never found a solution to the problem either , but so far on this system, im not having any issues...atleast that i have noticed. I remember someone suggesting changing the ACPI Multiprocessor thing in your Hardware -> Device Manager to something, but I cannot remember what. IT was just a different version of the same thing...i think maybe Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC. If you want to try this, do it at your own risk. I did it once on my old desktop, and it didnt break anything.

Open up Device Manager
Expand the "Computer" list
you should see something like "ACPI Multiprocessor PC".
Double click it to open up the details of it, and choose the Driver Tab
Click Update Driver
Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Choose "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
Select Advanced Configuration And Power Interface (ACPI) PC
and follow the rest of the prompts.

The desktop system i was having this same problem with was a AMD board, and it was not multiprocessor. This new laptop though is Intel and HThreaded, so I don't know if this still will work. Like i said, use at your own risk. If it works but doesn't change anything, you can always change it back. If you are desperate enough to try it, let us know if it works, maybe this will fix several people's issue if so. I never found the be-all, end-all solution to this problem so dunno if this will work at all.

Hope this helps, and good luck.
