Unfortunately, you are wrong. I fixed the sparkly screen by replacing it with a Samsung from Dell. No comparison, this screen is simply much, much better.

Then I fixed the clicking hard drive with an Hitachi utility that stopped the drive going into power-saving mode every few seconds. So by making it run full speed all the time, I get no clicks and better performance. So on both these major points, both you and Scott are completely wrong.

Oh, and I run the fan control utility all the time. No problems at all, PC quiet as a mouse.

In short, you and Scott got it all wrong, I got it all right, so I ask you, who is really the "slobbering fool"? And on that note, goodbye.

5. Be careful on using fangui..always watch your DIMM temps don't let it go all the way past 55C.
6. You should receive an XP reinstallation CD. Call Dell, they will ship one for you for free.
7. I get 55.7GB maximum after doing fell HD format.
My dimm has hit WAY over 55 deg C. More exact temp would be around 60 - 65 deg C for DIMM and it has never burned out.

This guy has serious issues, beginning with the fact that he is a legend in his own mind.

Turning fans off and such is never a good idea. If you want a completely silent computer, wait a few years, get some dry ice mabye?

IT departments are about as useful as insurance agents, lawyers, car salesman and senators.
