compaq armada m700 processor???

Thread Starter
i have an aramada m700 and my processor is a pentium 3 ~647mhz but sometimes when i check the processor speed it tells me 400mhz or 500mhz or any other number. Another thing is that i have 256mb ram and i find that acceptable, but is there a way i can upgrade the processor? what socket type is it? and are there worries of overheating? can i also upgrade the system's graphics, as they are only 8mb ati and i find that too poor. plz respond to this, as i have seen on some forums people not responding....

Try CPU-Z (www.cpuid.com). It will list all the info regarding the processor - the socket, speed... The processor should be upgradable to another Pentium 3 processor. Check to see if the processor is not soldered to the motherboard.(sometimes they are). If the graphics card is integrated it cannot be upgraded.

The graphics card will most likely not be upgradable, and even if it is, you'll have a heck of a time finding a replacement, since graphics for laptops are not standardized. The processor can be upgraded, but the reason it shows 400 or 500 if most likely due to speed step to save battery life/reduce heat.

My old M700 has a BGA processor, no socket. Which obviously means no upgrade.
