Problem installing WoW

I did a clean reformat when i got my xps2 2 days ago. And last night when i open my WoW CDs and tried to install it, i get a "system does not meet minimum requirements." Is this normal? I have a 2.13ghz, 2gig ram, 60gig 7200rpm HD (if this matter) and v76.41 driver for the 6800 ultra go.

I have an identical system except 1 gig of ram. WOW loaded and has been running great. I did load WOW before updating to the 76.41 drivers though I can't imagine that would make a difference. I did not do a reinstall of windows.

I suspect the requirements that are not being met are software. Do you have the correct Direct X version installed?

I got that message too, but just ignored it and the game plays fine. Did you try setting your system to maximum performance before installing? I guess it could be possible that the processor is stepping down in speed and that the installation program doesn't put enough load on the CPU to make it step back up.

How many laptops do you know of that have a 2.13ghz processor and 6800 Ultra?

Just install it. It's because your system is running in speedstep so is probably around 600Mhz. It will run fine. My 9300 did the same thing and I just told it to install anyway.

Just as a tip:

If you already have WoW installed on another machine which has all the current updates, Share the folder and copy the entire ""C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft" directory to the new computer.

Then find the wow.exe file in the dirctory and make a short cut to it from wehre ever you want. I have it in the task bar.

It took only 9 minutes as opposed to about and hour and a half, to get up and running.

The first time your run it it will say "Hardware settings change. Load Defaults?"

Now your ready to go with all the latest patches AND all of your custom gui settings.

And then it will say that again if you put an USB memory stick (or remove one) from the notebook...and then it might say it again if you mess with your video settings too much or install drivers...or it might say that again if you switch from AC power to battery. I get that message more often than I think I should....was able to partially fix the problem by making the Config.wtf file read-only.

Johare and Maklar,
You are both correct, i did noticed my 2.1ghz dropped to 876Mhz when that happened.

And i have no choice but to sit there an hour and a half because i just open WoW out of the game box, it has been sitting at my house since March 1st waiting for my laptop so i could play it lol.

Yep happened to me too. I installed, cranked every slider to max, set my resolution to 1920x1200, and stood in the lobby of Ironforge at a solid 60FPS.

"Minimum requirements" indeed.

When you are done installing the CDs be prepared for about an equal ammount fo time to download and install all the patches. But it worth the wait.

Ditto on everyone else. It "doesn't recognize" the new Dothan\\"Sonoma" in my Acer 8104, but it installs and games like a champ on max settings. WoW is my "real life" currently. Work is just a daydream\nightmare between WoW sessions.
