X700 Powerplay problem on TM8103

Hi,

I have recently bought the Acer Travelmate 8103, which is really impressive and matches my old desktop system for performance.

Has anyone else noticed that Powerplay for the Mobility Radeon X700 does not seem to be working? It never seems to recognise when running on batteries so is running at full speed constantly.

I have only checked this through the Powerplay tab on the display control panel, and through looking at the clock speeds with Powerstrip. The Powerplay tab always says "Plugged in", even when it is clearly not.

Have I got a dodgy one? Does this work for other 8100 series owners?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Make sure that you have ATI Hot Key Poller service running. Apparently it does several other things besides providing hot key switch between monitors. It also makes Powerplay work and VPU recovery is also inmplemented in that service.

Thanks DarthAcer that did the trick! I've disabled it off in the past because I'm a bit anal about unnecessary services running. I should really just do as I'm told in the future!

Thanks again.
