Some good news regarding 6800 Go Ultra bios

Thread Starter
First is that I've finally managed to retrieve a copy of the bios using RivaTuner that is 100% complete (last one was missing data). Second is that the author of Nibitor has replied to my email and is interested in taking a look at the bios. I sent him the good copy tonight so lets hope he can crack it and all of us can start OC'ing our 6800 Go U's manually.

Edit: Update 4/9: I've received an updated bios with a slight underclock at 400/1000 for testing. Just out of curiousity I ran a file compare between the bios I sent him vs the one he sent me and I found which offsets he changed to get the new clocks, its pretty simple. I created a modded bios file with a 470 mhz clock/1100 mhz memory and have included it here. I'm personally waiting on the nibitor author to add the bios into his program but before he can do so, he needs the bios file he sent me (also included here) to be tested on an XPS 2 system. I may give it a shot on Monday after my other XPS 2 arrives.

EDIT 2: None of the flash utilities work at this time so please do not attempt a bios flash. I've removed the download links for now.

What exactly implies that the BIOS is locking the o/c? I am actually tempted to say it's the cooling.

I ordered a 9300 yesterday as well so I might as well say oh crap

What games is everyone getting unacceptable performance in that would require overclocking the Ultra card?

There you go being practical again, Johare. It's all about the benchmarks and bragging rights, man.

lol....guess I don't get it. I can see using programs like 3dmark to evaluate drivers, to make sure a system is performing where it should be and to compare different systems, but to treat 3dmark as a 'game' where the goal is to get the high score is just ridiculous. It's like having a car capable of going 300mph and wanting to 'tune' it so you can go 350.

That's exactly what it's like. Might as well jump on the bandwagon:

oh crap oh crap oh crap oh crap crap on a crap cracker..

(but i can buy another 9300 for the price difference between my order and a similar xps...)

Someone needs to figure out how to run 9300s in SLi mode!

well, truth be told, half-life 2 at 1920x1200 with 4xAA does get a little sluggish at times.

Have you game at 1920x1200 on high settings with recent games? If your system can handle it, what about FEAR that should be out this summer... that game will put our system on their knees. Or Elder Scrolls III: Oblivion... not out yet, but from the screenshots, i'm betting our systems won't be handle the best quality, especially at 1920x1200.

One of the reasons I got this laptop was specifically for Elder Scrolls lll Obvivion. I hope I'm not going to be disappointed!

I set everything to the max in CSS and HL2 without any lag....this includes AA/AF.

Doom 3 I expected to run a little better but 1600 ultra (no AA/AF) I can live with. UT2004 is brilliant. Far Cry is pretty good. RCT3 plays like crap still and lags to death no matter the settings (worst game I have ever played; somebody send the developers back to high school).

I hope someone figures out how to overclock soon, although while playing Doom 3 this thing got really really hot so I would be surprised if there is any overclocking ability in this machine.
