Doom 3 I expected to run a little better but 1600 ultra (no AA/AF) I can live with. UT2004 is brilliant. Far Cry is pretty good. RCT3 plays like crap still and lags to death no matter the settings (worst game I have ever played; somebody send the developers back to high school).

I hope someone figures out how to overclock soon, although while playing Doom 3 this thing got really really hot so I would be surprised if there is any overclocking ability in this machine.
The OC will of course vary with each game just like it does for desktop cards. Some games will run fine at 500+ while others accept less but just having the ability to change the clock on our cards would be great. I've now emailed the author of rivatuner with the bios attached as well. Hopefully one of these guys can do something for us.

If you are talking native resolution though, wouldn't a Go 6800 with a 1440x900 display get pretty much the same frame rates as an Ultra with a 1920x1200 display? The Ultra is supposedly like 50% faster than the non-Ultra, but a WUXGA display has 75% more pixels than a WXGA+ display.

Oh crap.

Oh crap. Hey wait a sec...

Thanks for doing the all the work Joker. Though I'm not an overclocker, I'm curious just how fast the card can go.

I found Half Life 2 at WUXGA with 4x AA just a little too slow...30fps isn't enough for me, I prefer 60+. Plus, the benefits of AA at 1920x1200 are questionable...to be honest I'm hard pressed to see much of a difference at all unless I closely inspect the screen. But then again, I was totally satisfied running HL2 at 1280x960 with 4x AA on my CRT monitor, so 1920x1200 still looks amazing. I play other games at lower resolutions...like Far Cry is at 1440x900 with no AA and 1x AF. It runs super fast (60+ fps) at all times, but then I turn high dynamic range rendering and it chops my speed in half, making it still playable, just not insanely fast. You know, a more modest 40fps avg I'd say (as if that's modest). All detail settings and stuff are always at their maximums of course.

I have one question-- does anyone know how to get rid of the mouse lag in Far Cry? It is there pretty much whenever the video card is under stress, but only in Far Cry of course. It happens to Far Cry on every system I've played it on.

the difference between 30 fps & 60 fps is quite negligible to the naked eye.

negligible?... dude... in gaming.... it is so OBVIOUS even a person with bad eyesight can tell the difference... pass me some of that shit you're smoking... lol

Also, guys.. at 1900x1200, you shouldn't even need AA... the res is already high enough that you can't even notice jaggies..

just be happy with you got peopleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
you just bought it, be happy with it for a little while at least...

before you know it something faster will come out again, doesn't mean what youve got now is peice of junk.. geeee

kobranet, we're just joking around. Actually I'm happy for you if you get your Ultra even hotter. Just having some fun. You're right, the 6800 in our 9300's is awesome.

Now here's to the failure of the Ultra BIOS hack project! Hoorah!

Yes you are correct.
But games in 1920x1200 look cooler, that’s the whole point.

Your talking to the computer equivalent of the eco tuners who completely rebuild an engine just to get a couple more horse power so they can shave off 0.01 seconds so they can win the 1/4 mile. We just don't really have any way to drag race other than 3Dmark.

Watch "The Fast and the Furious" if you still don’t understand. Practicality is not what is sought after.

I also have to say that is nonsense, I can tell the difference between 60 and 75 FPS, I would say cant really tell 75FPS+ which is why doom3 bugs me, it limits it to 60 FPS, which when my monitor is running at 160 HZ I can easily tell that it is at 60 FPS, Anyway I havent heard too much about the problems with overclocking, is it that in the driver setup it is just not listed? or doesnt allow you to change the MHz or is it that you change them and there is no actual change? I am assuming people are just using newest drivers from nvidia? like the 71.84's ?

playing a game at a constant 30 frames per second will not hinder your gameplay or performance one bit. it's not like you will notice the game playing choppy because 30 fps is smooth; and so is 60 fps, and so is 75 fps.

Comparing the mentality of overclockers to those who drag race explains a lot....thanks! Same with "The Fast and the Furious"...I don't know one mature adult who looks at those tuners and doesn't find them to be more than just a wee bit ridiculous.

There is a fine line between Passion and Insanity. Take any group of enthusits, at somepoint some lunitic will suggest or do something outrageous that gets outsiders attention. That gives the whole group a bad rep.

Hehe...guess I see the point. I think the word Obsessive might apply too. I wonder if I went to an auto-enthusists forum if I'd see a board where everyone was buying pretty much the exact same equipped stock car and then posting their 0-60 results even though they were nearly the exact same
