Which Mouse for 9300? - Page 2

MS Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth

Has anyone tried the MS Bluetooth Intellimouse 2.0 version with the 9300? I just picked one up on woot.com for $45 with shipping. I'm worried about battery life a little bit but I like MS mouses and this one felt really nice in the store but I wasn't going to drop $70+ on a mouse with my old lady standing right next to me.

I like the idea of no wires and no dongle even though I plug in my lappy most of the time.

Anyone have one of these? Good? Bad?

Yeah but it has a whopping base station which you can't avoid using - definitely makes it a non-purchase for me for a laptop mouse, I like to take my mouse on the road with me.

What do you mean 'turn it off' - it goes into standby mode when you dont use it, I get at least a fortnight between charges, and charging only takes an hour or so.

All buttons work with firefox straight out of the box, no cables or heavy base station required, awesome Logitech build quality (same shape and design as the 500 and 1000 models) and I switched back and forth between the 900 and my wired MS Intellimouse a few times during a big session of Half Life 2 and couldn't notice any difference at all.

Definitely the best choice for this laptop if you want to impress people with a completely cableless gaming rig.

Nnngg.. defeats purpose of wireless mouse... why wouldn't you get the Logitech mouse which is wireless which doesn't use the USB ports.. whhhy... WWHHHYYY??!

Edit - Heres a couple of snaps I just took to show you how cool a totally cable free setup looks - excuse the quality of my phone cam, but it is handy being able to send my photos to my PC via BT.

SORRY SORRY SORRY GUYS, I DID NOT MEAN THE mx900, I meant the Logitech Cordless Click! Optical Mouse (The Non-Plus Version) It doesn't say that it goes into a stanby mode and looks like it always stays on...Have to take out the batteries to turn it off. Should i just shut up, leave it on and later down the road replace the batteries?

I use a Logitech MX-1000 at home and a V500 (the best travel mouse I have EVER used) for the road. The V500 has a small dongle you have to plug in (it's not BT), but it stores in the mouse when travelling. I can't recommend either mouse highly enough.

OK, you talked me into trying one. I will order a V500 and see what I think. I imagine Newegg could have it to me by Tues or Wed next week.

I don't think you'll regret it Newguru. The battery life on the V500. In my opinion, it really is the perfect travel mouse.

Looks like you've decided, but I'll second the mx518/mx510. It's corded, but definitely portable (fits easily into one of the special pockets in my Dell case). I got my mx510 2 days ago and it is hands down the best mouse I've ever used. And for 28 bucks (at newegg) it's a steal.

Word of warning - only for right handed users though.

Three words: OPTICAL IS OBSOLETE. If you are a gamer, the Logitech MX1000 is bliss. I used it when playing Unreal Tournament 04 and it is superb. Very precise, no lags, response time is out of this world. Battery life is amazing as well. On a full charge, it lasted me 3-4 days (maybe more) of surfing the net, gaming and the usual computer tasks. I also like the feel of it in my hands. Ergonomics is just right. It does have a base station that connects thru USB 2.0 that needs to be connected if you're going to use it so there will be an issue regarding this. Having a mouse that has a lot of features, fully customizable, very precise, and ergonomically sound outweighs the downside of the base station. You won't look back on using your lame cordless optical mouse after getting your hands on the MX1000.

Iogear makes a bomb little mouse. It's blue tooth, and it's tiny. And to top it off it's rechargable though the usb connector. I have one ariving on monday. I'll let you know how it is

Halo, you must have some super sensitive pixel scanning eyes man, Ive used the 1000 quite a bit and I personally couldnt discern any difference between that and my MX900 connected via BT.

Mind you, I've got some fps nut mates that refuse to even use USB mice because of the delay compared to PS2 mice, so each to their own I suppose - but also the whole idea of having to attach a whopping corded basestation to my portable laptop just doesn't appeal to me I guess.

And the MX500 is cute, but it's a 17" laptop guys - hardly a portable rig to begin with, the extra few mms youd save over the full-sizer doesn't seem worth it to have to wrestle with a less comfortable mouse (again, just imo).

Edit - having said all that, if I was using this laptop as a desktop replacement and wasnt moving around much with it then I'd buy the MX1000 as well, it never hurts to have the best tech.

It does have an option to connect thru PS2 as well. But yesh, the large base station might turn off some people but so far, it hasnt been a problem for me.

Well, besides my Logitech MX1000, I have another optical mouse I use for LAN parties. Below are the pics. Enjoy.

Lol - I have a headphone amp in a similar tin.

nice pics LordHalo...and it's buttonless too, now that's a feature you don't see enough of these days, lol

Nah, it has buttons.

i take it that if a bluetooth mouse is used, then you cant use another bluetooth gadget on the 9300 (or any other laptop...)? Or can I use them simultaneously?

sorry, didnt see the cutouts near the wheel the first time

I use the Logitech MX300, might be changing to the MX310 as I prefer the more commonly shaped body. Tried the MX1000, more precise, more control and more swing and bragging rights, but definately not mobile friendly...
