Wow, finally ... I'm no longer a noob on NBF!!

Well, finally, the day has come when I am no longer a noob on NoteBookForums. Looks like when you hit the 300 message mark, you move to the next level. For some reason, I do feel smarter. Like I have +10 Intelligence. If I start looking for a mothership (or a comet) to transend to, someone give me a smack.

It's hard to believe, I've posted 300+ messages. I know thats nothing compared to some others I've seen ... but you can tell where my priorities lie. "Cat in the cradle & the silver spoon ..." NOOOOOOOOO .... don't be like me Son. Don't be like me.

Oh crap.

(excuse my mutterings ...this is the kind of gobble-di-goop you get from me when I go to a bar, drink beer, and listen to people singing karaoke)

I have always wondered how that green bar progressed. So when do we get 2 green dots?

Wait a sec ... You have 700+ posts and it still says your a newb. I think my theory just got qwashed.

Not sure about the green dots.
It doesn't work by # of posts. It just means that someone has clicked on your button and approved your rep points.

BTW: People who have more than 2-3 green dots have just been using a different account name in order to boost their own rep. Classic Narcissistic Personality Disorder IMHO.

I have not been using multiple accounts to give myself rep. Click on the User CP link at the top of the page to see.

I can't click on your CP details without your username and password...you willing to provide? Less than 300 posts and maxed out on rep...it don't add up without using multiple accounts.
Nah, it's not multiple accounts.... they get more via the rep experimentation thread in the Off-Topic section. Rep is handed out like candy there, quick way to boost

Exactly, what I meant earlier was to click on your User CP to see how you have attained rep.

I don't see anywhere in the CP to learn about my rep...
The post count says "not a noob", the thread says otherwise.

If y'all do decide to give rep sign screen name so the people you give it to know. And if you with low rep (1 or 2 dots) give to someone like me with many dots, it won't count for us, and it will show up as grey.

Ah I think I know what you're saying. You're still a noob!
Dang it Speedde, have you been using your multiple accounts to boost your rep again.

Edit: By the way, I owe you one.
Yeah I just got 10 neg points from the same person, in a matter of 2 mins.

As you can see I have 2 red dots now, I did have 175 points before that.

I wouldn't worry about the little dots, they dont mean crap.

edit: and I didn't have to go through the pointless rep thread to get my points, it was from helping out others.
ok, let me help out some of you uber-rep-noobs...

First, go here: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=58360

That's the current rep thread in off topic (there've been others in the past, but Adam/Luke changed the rep rules so we could have some fun with it)...make sure you check out the second post in that thread so you get an idea of the point requirements for new dots and all of the rep phrases (the phrase when you hover the mouse over the green dots).

Now for how the reputation system works...to give someone rep, click on the underneath their username/avatar. You can give either positive or negative rep, but if you give the latter in the rep thread you will pummeled to a squishly little pulp real fast by the rep gods. Remember to sign the rep you give so people know to hit you back. You can give ten rep per day (24 hour period) and the amount of points you give per each shot depends on your own rep level (meaning the higher your reputation is, the more your rep is worth to others). If you have under 100 posts or have negative reputation then whatever rep you give (positive or negative) will show up as grey and not count as anything. In general it's best to stick with giving rep to those who have a similar number of dots as yourself, and then work your way up to the big boys.

To check your own rep level click on UserCP in the upper nav bar, it will show you the rep you've received, when it was given, for what post it was given, and a comment if the giver left you any. Your total points will be above the comments section...

...oh, one more thing, bring some donuts when you come, spreading the makes us hungry
