Hi all,
Looking at the tear down pictures in the 5660 review doesnt look as tho it takes much to get at the CPU.
I am wondering if replacing the thermal compound / Tape that Sager use in the machines with Arctic Silver 3 CPU thermal paste which is known to be the best stuff available.
I assume this would help to dissipate the heat better therefore the fans will run less (I take it they are Temp. Activated and do not run all the time) so therefore less noise.
Also the fans could be replaced depending on their dimensions with some of the silent more expensive fans on the market such as those from www.silentpc.co.uk or similar.
Also looking at the bottom of the Sager they have a PCMCIA cooling fan I have never used a laptop with such a fan and use my PCMCIA slot 24/7 with my wireless network card with no probs.
Is the fan there because of the proximity to the "HOT" cpu and is required or is it feasible to disconnect that fan to cut down on the noise?
