Vid card help plz

Thread Starter
I have a 9860 with X800 for almost 3 weeks - 4 weeks. Yesterday it showed an error followed by a BSOD by some ati____. Restarted and windows loaded but nothing could be seen, there was this awful pattern of colors through out the whole screen, and BSOD and restart and it kept going. Turned it up on safe mode, removed drivers with the ATI tool and restarted... Everything was fine again but i still couln't play since windows only placed a generic driver for it to work. I installed the vid drivers that came with PC, again the same problem... tried other drivers (omega (inf file fixed), newest catalysts)... same problem. Whenever i install a vid driver it goes back into the problem... Formatted drive and installed a fresh copy of windowze and again same prob when installing any vid drivers! Hence windows generic vga driver can do light tasks (surfing the net, etc etc) but gaming... i can't none! (the purpose of this machine)

Have anyone has this kind of problem? I think it should be the vid card took a dump; everything was working excelent in the past.
Any thoughts? Comments? Thanks

I would pop off the panel covering the ATI card and make sure it is pushed in tightly. Also, if you can, hang the end of the laptop (where the fan for the video is) and make sure it is comming on and cooling properly.
