Upgrage the screen, u won't be able to change it later.

Memory is slow, 1GB is the minimum, but u can buy from other shop cheaper.

If u can, change the HD to the 60GB, it's 7200RPM while others not.

what's so good about the screen? for memory, i might buy from another store =T what's the + to upgrading the HDD?
The upgraded screen is definitely the way to go - the resolution is unbelievably clear. J.Clausse won't steer you wrong - dude knows what he's talking about. It's all about speed and power.
I agree specially with the screen. You want a crisp and clear display on that 17" screen, right?

omg $222!!! I dont know i pushed my dad to get this lappy far enough i think. will this trully make the difference that would convince my dad to drop 2 extra bills??? if so i would think about it, i mean what are the downsides? currently im @ $2300 <--big price, going $2522 looks scary
post #7 of 22
I understand - the screen makes a huge difference in resolution. There is less strain on the eyes when writing those term papers. All you can do is ask - he will definitely see the difference when it arrives. Good luck!

Shouldn't both Archan9el and Snoslicer8 upgrade their warranties to 3 years?
Thread Starter
why is that? will my system be at risk for 3 years running?
All computers are at risk. It's not too uncommon for people to have to replace certain faulty parts on their 7700. I've had my 7700 for almost a month, and a little while ago, the video card stopped working, so AW is sending me a replacement video card right now. You never know.

i think one year is substantial enough for any error to occur, im not saying all errors, but dang how could a company earning so much money want more from their customer service? i just dont think it's worth it. if a video card fails, there has to be a reason for it to fail, it dont just die...that's like what a 1 in 100000 chance? for every computer i purchased not once did the video card fail, nor did a hard drive fail, nor did the cd drive, the chances for that to me is nill
post #19 of 22
It's all about peace of mind. If the motherboard fails, or if the gorgeous LCD screen suddenly starts having "stuck lines", the warranty should cover that and the faulty parts will be replaced. After dropping $4000 on a new laptop, the 5% for the extended warranty may be worth the peace of mind.

It's a 1 in 100000 chance, but I'd sure hate to risk having a $4000 doorstop from the 13th month and beyond.

yeah but you hear about these insurance scams all the time. they kind of influence ur decision to place these orders. itll be hard to convince someone like me who hasnt had a problem with his pc ever in his life. but then again this is a laptop...
