ezDock port replicator for ACER TM 8100s (8103\81-4) Review - Page 2

[b]Hey MrMsyvc, thanks a lot for your tests and previews about the Acer Travelmate 8104, and I cant wait to have my TM 8104 next saturday. Well, I'm interested in the ezDock prot replicator too, and as you mentioned it supports PCI Express slot. My question is: what are the possible hardwares that might come with PCI Express interface? I mean if the ATI X800 was available in PCI Express external slot for laptops, would it work in this port replicator?

Thank you.

Sorry, but I'm clueless on the PCI Express slot. Perhaps others will offer an opinion. DarthAcer is extremely knowledgeable on Acers and computer technology.

Hi there,
I have a problem with my new Acer 8103. When I download short videos(mostly less that 2 min) I get this garbled blurry image on my media player and I don't know how to get it fixed. Could someone help me out with this?

Thank You

Personally I haven't heard of that one. You'll probably get more response if you post in the "monster" 8100 thread.

Why do Acer use such short connections to their docking stations? The ezDock has the fixed connector and the EasyPort has only a 6 inch station. This type of docking station would be ideal to drop down behind the desk and have all the wires down there out the way, with the single cable coming up for the laptop.

I'd certainly buy an extension dock connector cable!

Haven't a clue.

I agree.

Certainly not "flexible".

Very nice review. I am interested in this for my ferrari 4000 when it comes. Have you tried the pcmcia slots yet? I was thinking of putting an audigy one in there.

Haven't tried them. If they're there, they "should" work. Some have reported USB problems, but I've had none.

I was just wondering if it was possible that I could put my PCMCIA card Creative Audigy 2 ZS card in the EzDock and put my Belkin Wireless Pre-N notebook card in my computers PCMCIA card slot will they both work? I believe they will because you said that your notebook's USB ports still work when plugged in to the Ezdock...

I haven't tried it but it should. As noted in my review picture of the port usage page from the manual (hard to read) both PCMCIA slots are available when docked.

freakin sweet, now only if I could find a place to buy it...

hmm being able to use a PCI Express video card would be SWEET if possible

anyone know what does pci-e card for the ez port look like? I assume it doesn't look like pci-e card for desktop.

I thought id just add this. On WOW with the 8104 - i have noticed that playing for long prieods of time can leave temp. burn in of pixals along the bottom of your screen. The WOW UI has small white pixals of light which cause this and as a result im using a mod that removes that artwork form fear that the burn in becomes perminant. BEWARE 8100 USERS!

nice

Blair - get a dictionary and stop playing so much WoW you junky. in reference to Is the 8104's x700 Video Card upgradable? does anyone care to speculate on whether there will be video upgrades available thru this pci-e slot?

I haven't heard of that one. I'm sure you've triple-checked? Unplug an item, wait 5-10 seconds, then plug it back it. If you're sure there ALL DEAD then it sounds like time to return to Acer for repair, warranty or not. Good luck. (Google, too, of course.)

Not just me. Apparently this has happened before.
