Well what can I say, I needed that little bit of extra storage that as a family we could all use. After searching around I narrowed it down to three suppliers, not the cheapest, but all well...

I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...

This is an awesome mouse with an excellent grip for a mid sized to large size hand. Right-handed, comfortable, trendy, upscale, red, responsive, functional, task oriented. Overall A+++

Not clear on exactly WHAT operating system your father is using. The only DOS I remember that booted from CD was PC-DOS 7.0 (and later)...
To get into Windows 3.1, one simply typed 'WIN' at the DOS prompt (as you correctly recalled).
However, if he is in DOS and 'WIN' doesn't get him anywhere, check the PATH variable (type 'PATH' at a dos prompt) to make sure the windows directory where the WIN.EXE resides is shown.
I can't believe someone is still using DOS/Win3.1, though... that's .. uh... well, that's that.
If it's Win9x, then there are all kinds of other problems and solutions. Let us know a bit more on the details and we'll see if we can help.

sorry thats my fault i wasnt very clear we arent running 3.1 were running xp home ( although if anyone is interested we do still have the original 3.1 disks) but no since it crashed 2 days ago his xp hasnt loaded so he booted up into dos ( the win thing was all i could remember from way back when i last used dos) and now he is in dos but is wondering if there is a command to open xp through it other than c:/win../blah/.../blah.exe
but the other question is when he tries booting from cd it stalls on starting instalation (the begining screen thing)
