Very true.

I didn't want to mess around with laptops, I just went for the XPS 2. I plan on upgrading the memory when it's cheap. 1GB is good right now, I'm hoping when 2GB modules come out for notebooks I can load up 4GB, since I'm not convinced that the 915pm chipset really has a 2GB cap.

As for the 7800....I might be willing to upgrade to that in a long time. $600 for the desktop part....that's just harsh. Mobile parts are just as much, if not more. At least the 7800's use less power.

To get back on topic, that's a damn fine mod you did. Going from a 9200 to an XPS 2 (effectively) is definitely impressive.

I knew the bios mod would fix it, since the motherboards are the same.

This is all thanks to my l33t disassembly skills

Motherboards are slightly different, right? Or is there Gigabit ethernet on the 9300's but disabled by the BIOS?

I'm still waiting for my 6800Ultra but I have everything else so can I just flash the bios now with the modded one and just add the Ultra when it arrives.

Can Hazridi or someone PM me the modded bios.
Thanks

has anybody else successfully completed a modded 9300 with the ultra card?....(i'm really anxious )
Don't understand. Just buy an XPS 2.

The card itself is like 350 bucks. (Actually my replacement said $433 with tax)

ahhhhhh........... were's the modded bios.... I wander how many ppl have a working 6800 ultra card in their I9300?.
I'm just waiting for the 7800, the power requirements and heat issues of the 6800Go Ultra aren't worth it IMHO.
the 7800 should be smaller, and use less power, but idk for sure if its gonna be compatible with the 9300. heres to hopin tho.
Noone for a new Bios deal? hazridi? someone else try smth?
I still have my 6800U sitting on the table waiting for the PM with the modded bios, but I'll probably put it on ebay if the 7800 or x800 come out and work also with 9300.
If anybody has completed this mod and now has an extra 6800 non-ultra, I would be willing to buy it to upgrade from my X300.
