Ok, lets say i were to place a 8886 on my bed...would the blanket block the fans and create a heating problem? i figure it would...what would u recommend to prevent this?

Yes, this would be a problem.

You will need to put the unit on something that allows the rubber feet support such that the air flow is not blocked. You can either buy something just for this purpose or make something yourself.

For instance, my local Comp-USA stores have a ventilated plate just for this purpose. It is black and sells for around $10 US. You can also use anything like a small piece of shelving material, plywood, etc. Just cut to fit, paint, laminate your favorite picture on it, etc. Have fun with it!

Lot's of possibilities.

Agreed! Or, it you're just in a hurry to use something, get a hardback textbook or something that you can put the 8886 on to get some room between the fan vents and the surface it's on.

w00t!
I did that yesterday, i was browsing/playing battlefield while on the bed (in which the 8886 sinks), it does get hotter, but i even left the 3dmark test running with overclocked ati 9000, and whilei t was on the lobby part, i fell asleep, i woke up with no problems with the 8886.
(Am i the only mad enough to have done this?)

bed and 8886

Yes you are the only one mad enough to do that.. heh

First thing I did when my lappie arrived was to take a shelf out of the entertainment center and place it on my bed. I have a waterbed so there are two reasons to do that. 1 so the lappie doesnt over heat and 2 so the waterbed matteress doesnt get exposed to the excess heat generated by the lappie.

You know the saying better safe than sorry..
