Inspiron 9300 400 vs 533 RAM fsb -.-

Ok, here are my specs:
Inspiron 9300 17"WUXA screen
1.60 Ghz Dothan Core 533mhz FSB CPU
512MB (2x 256) RAM (should be 533mhz, will explain more below)
Geforce 6800 Go
7200 RPM 60GB HDD
Wifi and some other minor specs but that covers the major stuff

And here is my issue:
My 9300 is built with (specs from the dell website, and on the RAM chips themselves) 533mhz RAM running 2x 256MB in dual channel mode. However, windows, CPUZ, AND the BIOS are all posting a lowly 400mhz FSB for this ram! I'm going to post some pics, and try to get ahold of dell tomorrow about this, but was looking for some interim help or information.

This seems to be the same problem as seems to be posted in a couple of the Inspiron 6000 Threads here but can't seem to find any real answers, nor anything that fixes it. also, it is not throttled with the processor speed as it displays the same in cpuz at 800mhz as it does at 1.60 ghz.

Thanks in advance for any replies/info as i'm totally stumped.

Have you tried to open the memory bay to see what chips they acutally included in your system?

Software Bug - there are a few posts about it somewhere in here. In the mean time, just check your BIOS and forget the freeware.

-.- and again, still stumped. CPUZ is reporing the same thing as the Bios and i'm not experiencing this "Bug"

FSB and RAM Speed don't match? They don't need to. I've read that DDR2 400 runs at 800. That is where they lost me. I figures that DDR2 is better than DDR. 800 is faster then 533 FSB. I took two asprin and went to bed.

My system shipped with the wrong memory. You need to pull your memory, find the part number and look it up on the manufacturers web site to see what you actually got. I am willing to bet that you got shipped the wrong memory like I did.

my memory is actually running @200mhz which is 400mhz DDR, I'd like it to be running @ 266mhz which is the 533FSB its supposed to be at. and i don't even believe this mobile chipset even supports an 800FSB....

Thanks for thie info on part stuff, i'll check the part #'s vs the order info. i'm in e-mail hell with dell, they just told me to check the bios
