I am tyring to decide on whcih computer to buy. The Compaq 8230 is too pricey. I can configure a Dell D810 for $1878. I have always used Dell at work and am used to the screen that comes with them.
I can configure a Gateway M460 for $1714. The only teo downsides - no 533 mhz memory and no ultrabirght screen. I doubt the memory speed will be that big of a performance hit. The lack if ultrabright bothers me. When I have gone into Best Buy, the Gateway notebooks with ultrabright are acceptable. Those without are too dim in my opinion.
But, I have not seen the M460 at Best Buy, so I don't know if the screen is an issue. Is there anybody out there who can comment on the screen quality/brightness on the M460 or in comparison to a Dell display?
