How does 7700 screen compare to Sony XBRITE screens?

I am considering either the AW 7700 or a comparable Sony VAIO notebook. The thing that draws me to the Sony notebooks is I have seen the screen in person and love it. I am concerned as to whether or the not the 7700's screen is as good.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

I have seen the 7700 screen and it has a glass-like cover that makes the quality of the images top-notch. That and I don't think you can go wrong with a resolution such as is offered by AW. =) Just my two cents...that and I don't think you could get such a powerful machine in a notebook config from Sony.

Cheers,
Brady

I will try and answer your question...

Remember this about laptop screen's, there are only about 5 or so major LCD screen manufactures out there. This means that no matter what lappy brand you buy, chances are its coming from one of the 5 manufactures. The XBRITE technology makes colors richer and more vivid, however, its because of the glossy coating that's applied to the screen, Alienware's/Clevo's Clearview does the same thing and the screen is huge! The screen on the Sony is not any better then the 7700 and the hardware you get in the Sony for the money is a joke. Get the Alienware, the resell value is just as good if not better then the Sony's too, check out ebay and see for yourself.

Good Luck!!!

I would say codename 47 covered it very well. If it was me trying to make that choice I would go with the AW, thats my two cents

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was hoping to hear that the 7700 was better. I would much rather get the 7700 than the VAIO.

Thanks again.

I use a sony 19" Xbrite as a external monitor and it looks the same as my AW 7700 screen

The XBRITE screens are gorgeous but to get a Vaio configured similiar to a 7700 would probably run around $3000.00 and more.

If you want the added power, get the 7700. You won't regret it.
