I haven't even thought about that yet. I still have to wait for my stuff to arrive first. It might not even come because I purchased it from www.memory4less.com when they had the Kingston 1GB stick for $127 for one night only. Some how, I think its a price mistake and it will never come. We'll just have to see! However, they have already charged my credit card, so its beginning to look a little more promising.

No problem man! I do this all the time for my family, friends and colleagues. I have probably overseen over 20 or even 30 Dell orders in the past few years. Perhaps I should talk to Dell about getting some commission.

if i could only get rid of that stupid $69 warranty......

thoughts on the warranty anyone??

i think i've lost it

Joseyu - as cheesy as it sounds, it's just good to see someone acting like a human being. Too often in these forums people ignore help requests and fly off the handle at each other. I must be getting old... Hang on, I'm only 30!

Faith in human nature restored, time for bed.

Just want to point out that the regular WXGA display at 1440x900 looks like viewing 1280x1024 on a normal crt monitor (using normal font size). The text is not as big as people would think on a 17" widescreen. This is probably why dell doesn't offer a WSXGA resolution in-betweeen.

i'm planning on jumping on this 9300 boat as well. my requirements are the same as the orginal poster. Big dvd watcher, small gamer. I speced out everything and i do play on getting the a 1gb stick on putting it myself cause thats how i am. but how about the HD. are those easy swaps as well. Something in the lines of a desktop type? i can do the ram for sure.

Right now. i'm planning on running the 1.7ghz, 256mb, maybe the 80gb if i can't swap out the HD. possible dvd burner. and the 128mb x300. my range is 1400$. but thats tax and everythign.

*sorry to steal your thread but i figure it might help you too. talking about replaceing HD as well.

hey joseyu, do you have any good links handy (from this forum) regarding the 2 screens? pain in the ass sifting through 30 pages...
This is as close to the base as you can get for using the 800 off coupon.. came out to be $1137 after $30 dell bucks coupon and then 3% fatcash (www.fatcash.com don't forget to use the link from them, it's money and it's real). I opted for the video card (better resale later and I'm a gamer), and the better screen since it's been compared to the wsxga+ of the 9100's 15.4" screen (and i love that screen).

Nope, I don't. However, I would suggest that you choose the WUXGA display. Many have said that the WXGA does not have high enough resolution for the 17" display. If you are worried about the glossy screen, it was a little wierd in the beginning but I have gotten use to it and I can't stand anything without. As far as light leakage and sparkling goes, the K9922 Samsung is the better one from different polls, but others seem to like the LG. Getting a LCD replacement for one or the other seems to be getting harder, but it is not immpossible.
those configs are almost what i'm wanting. but now i can't pick. i might just get everything there but drop that 80gb and get the 40gb later on if needed i'll swap out a bigger one. and with that money lefted over i'll just pick up the 1gb ram instead. therefore i'll be a lot more happy with the comp out the box. i like your thinking joseyu . any idea how long this thing is going to last.

shipping would be free correct.

edit.

1.73ghz
truelife
1gb
128 ati
40gb
8x burner

totals to 1557.26 after tax.

I'm thinking of droping the CPU down to the 1.6ghz to save $100. would that be worth it. everything else i know i want. but the truelife and the CPU. i wouldn't really notice the speed diffrences would I

really? 1440 x 900 isn't enough for 17"?

This is really making me crazy....i've been glued to the pc for 6 hours straight now trying to decide, not to mention weeks of waiting for the perfect deal

Truelife is the way to go.I am very picky when it comes to screens. That was the only reason I left Dell as far as laptops go.I could not resist the Sont,Toshiba, and HP's glossy screens.

but what about everything on the screen being too small on the TrueLife display? The DPI setting takes care of the text, what about everything else though?

Well I have no problems reading text on the native resolution. If you leave the DPI at 120 it will cause some if not most webpages to have a funky/weird display. If you are a constant web surfer this may bother you.I am pretty sure your orderering tonight but if not go yo local Circuit City,Best Buy,COMPUSA or whatever chain is in your area and check out Sony's Vaio A690 as it has 1920x1200 resolution.
