Should I or shouldn't I?--->M6811

Should I get the EMachines M6811 at futureshop @ CAD$ 1619.97, or wait for something similar to a Gateway 7426GX to arrive in the Canadian market?

Or wait for the price to drop on M6811?

Should I still expect the cracked hinge issue if I buy now, or is this already taken care off by now?

I am not in hurry too.

I believe it is fixed on the 7426.

Give it another month and the new Turion notebooks outta be out (hopefully) and then the price should drop for existing Mobile A64's.

That'd be my vote too -- wait and see if you can get a Turion with a better graphics card.

That said, I'm on a M6811 right now, and it plays halflife2 on near-max settings just fine. Great machine, beefy beefy processor, decent battery life (~2.5-3 hours), build quality could be a little better (search "flicker").

It amazes me that AMD's fastest notebook processor (the 3400+) from a year ago *still* beats or matches Intel's offerings in performance, and is about a third the price of a high-end P-M. Now if I could just get a Turion...
