I printed out my invoice when I bought it, then 2 weeks later when I recieved my laptop my invoice about the hard drive changed. They are lucky I got a 5400.
Well I could print it, but I am curious as to if they even have a 100GB 5400 RPM drive as I just looked in their store and I could not find one.

Yes, Dell have Seagate 5400.2 100GB. I bought it as seperate item after system purchase from Dell.

Strange cannot find it on their site, maybe they are not selling them seperatly at the moment.

On newegg.com they are selling that seagate drive cheaper then the 4200 RPM Fijitsu that came with my 9300.

Link

Do you think perhaps the 4200 Fijitsu I have will outperform that seatgate?

In my configuration im suppose to have a hitachi 80gb 5400 rpm drive.
But i actually have a Toshiba drive??
Anyone know the rpm of the tosh?
Cause i was gonna get the 7200 rpm 60 gb and if this thing isnt at least 5400 rpm i will be pissed.
I just went for the 60 GB 7200 RPM because I have a nice USB 2.0 120 GB External HDD to store all my big files on

Do you mind getting that part # of this for me from your service tag?

I called Dell to complain and I got a ditsy blonde on the phone who said that they do not have a 100GB 5400 RPM drive, I told her that they DO have a 100GB 5400 Seatgate that they put in their laptop's and if they cannot send me one of those I told them I will settle for a 80GB 5400 RPM drive.... She said she need to look into this further and is going to call me back, and I got a case # and her extension #, but to be honest I would rather just call back and talk to someone else or customer relations.
Well nevermind, surprisingly enough she called me back 30 min later and let me know that they placed the order for me and it will be on it's way soon. I have a dispatch # and a case# but no order #, but we will see what happens. So far I am impressed with Dell customer service.

It seems I have seen two different Dell part #'s for the 5400 100GB drive... My invoice has 341-2184, and it seems other have had 341-2141.....If anyone has the Dell part# for the Seagate momentus it would be a tremendous help!.
Just got off the phone with Dell, they had to setup my 5.4k drive through the XPS2 part #'s because it's no longer available under the I9300... I am lucky my invoice said 5.4k

well my invoice when i bought the laptop was was for 5400 RPM drive it was listed as this:
221-7527 100GB HARD DRIVE,5.4K,IXPS-G2

when i actually got it from my service tag it was this:
1 X8196 HARD DRIVE, 100G, 9.5, 5.4K, LEAD FREE, FUJITSU, ZEUS 60 HDD

so I had no problems getting a 5400 RPM drive, works great for me if anyone needs the part numbers
post #76 of 95
My 9300 came with a 5400rpm 60GB toshiba driveon 5/3, 16mb cache, nice drive.

My original order didnt specify but the detailed invoice did. I noticed they are no longer offering the 60GB non-7200 drive. Glad I got it, suits my needs well.

Regards,

Artuk

Thanks for the info dude appreciate it... Just got off the phone with Dell and this one is supposed to be on it's way, I told them to leave it clean I will install OS myself...

i got a 40gig toshiba 5400rpm drive with a 16meg buffer.

Very happy over here, mind you mine is a 6000, not a 9300.

The other hdd's i've gotten on other 6000 were toshiba 30gig 4200rpm
post #79 of 95
mine says "100GB HARD DRIVE,5.4K,I9300". Does that mean i am deffinitelly getting a 5400 RPM hard drive? I hope so!
Just got my i9300. Checked the specs on everest and I got a 80gb 5400rpm drive with 16mb cache (toshiba). Well worth the gamble, I didnt ever think i was going to get a 4200rpm. If you do get one you can sell it on ebay, and buy a new one from newegg.com and the cost will be only a few bucks more and you can get the 100gb 5400rpm (i looked into it!)
