This drive is annoying as hell. Even scratch proof , with no scratched CDs, it fails to read them and sometimes its just hit and trial. I just got my GuildWars preorder CD and it failed to read it. I tested the same CD on 3 other CD drives, on my desktop and other laptop and it works fine. The tech guy I talked to at Sager also said many people have reported problems with the Toshiba drive and he will ship me a NEC one once I return the current one in the mail. Anyone ever sent their drives through fedex ups or others ? Packing wise and stuff what should I be aware of. and is the NEC drive generally better than the Toshiba. THe tohsiba takes a long time to recognize CDs I put into it. Same with NEC?

I have this memory installed in my Inspiron 14R. 6gb (one 2gb & one 4gb). Great performance! I highly recommend Kingston.

The NEC is a much more supported drive in the fact that the firmware can be modified, and many people use it in HTPC's etc. (check club.cdfreaks.com for more info under the NEC forum on firmware mods.)
As for packing, plenty of bubble wrap, enough for 3 layers as the drives are fairly sturdy . . .
I had a Toshiba 6012 DVD-RW in my old laptop, the 1st DVD-RW laptop drive they'd made. 3 RMA's later I changed it for something different . . .
Jason.
