Where can I get a good, big fast drive for my 9300

I f'd up and got a 40g drive to save a few dollars, and it's already full of music and photos.

I was planning on getting a faster, bigger drive sometime int he near future anyway, but now I think i need to get one very soon. Anyone got any recomendations?

newegg.com is always a good source for computer hardware. But, there are so many other sites, but I am not very familiar with their notebook hardware since I am yet a notebook consumer.

I'd wait a month or so. They are coming out with a 100GB 7200 RPM very soon.
If you cant wait they have 100GB 5400RPM's at the egg for around 180-200.

I'd definately recommend a Seagate product. . .the two that I have (and an external) haven't failed in two years. My Maxtor external on the same computer, maxtor internal on another computer. . .and three sets of 2 Western Digitals on the same computer have failed in that amount of time.

Seagates are the way to go, in my opinion!!

I fail to see how others can still recommend anythign other than Hitachi's 7200rpm drive. It's faster than ANY existing laptop drive as of right now, as has been for a while (check storagereview.com). Now if you want size, then yes, go for some other 100+GB drive. But in terms of performance, it's the 7200rpm 7K60.

yeah well if you haven't noticed the 80gb and the 100gb 7200 rpm drive are already out , i know because i have got one, therefore putting the 7k60 to shame, so the best bet is to go with the 80gb 7200 rpm or the 100gb 7200 rpm drive.

You're full of shit! Gimme a link so I can buy a 7200RPM 100GB laptop drive...LOL...

Truth is, the Seagate Momentus 100GB and 80GB 7200RPM drives were announced and slated for retail in June of 2004...so far, they haven't been released, and NO ONE has any idea when they will hit market for sure...last month people were saying 'By the end of the month, for sure...' This month, guess what? 'End of the month, for sure...' People have been saying this ever since June of 2004, and they've never been released...complete vaporware, as far as I'm concerned, until I can place an order with Newegg...

here is my story choose to believe it or not, i am in the uk and last week or so i got a dell newsletter stating that the 80gb 7200 rpm was available of the xps2, i thought surely this can't be as it will be released next month, i called dell and the lady at the other end assured me that they currently had a few in stock so i convinced her to send me one through the post, it is currently in the shipping stage and should be delivered to me tommorow i have a few doubts that it will be the 7200 but there is no need to be negative, but the point i was trying to make was that why by the 7k60 now when (i suppose in America) you can wait for the newer faster hard drive

Well, the only reason I was going to buy one now (100GB 5400RPM) is because the 100GB 7200RPM are always 'coming out next month' and have been since June of last year! I have already filled my 60GB drive and don't even have enough room to do a proper defrag...if you have a press release from somewhere giving a FIRM retail date when those seagate drives will be available, please post a link so I can restrain myself...otherwise, I'll just have to assume that they meant JUNE 2005 in their original press release (made around a year ago)...

seagate 5400rpm 100gb is the bestest fastest drive out currently. not sure who has it, seems like there's a bit of a shortage of notebook drives at present. got mine at BestBuy.
