Darn !

Just when I was going to get the 8104 next week
this is announced / comes out.

It is too sad to be funny, darn darn darn !

Late last year was going to get a CL56 1400x1050, not a
wide screen. Then fell in love with the 8104 widescreen,
now this comes out with an nVidia chipset.

Anyone know if this is around the corner, or 4 months out.

It is a plot I swear it is !

For those of us who like the Acers we now have to styles

8104 - 15.4 widescreen / Ati x700 / 1GB
4650 - 15.0 standard aspect / nVidia 6600 / 512MB

Hm I wonder if the 4650 will run cooler, or have
the 6600 clocked better.

I'd still get the 8104. It's my first widescreen laptop, and I wouldn't go back now. It's also at a higher resolution. The two GPUs are said to be very comparable I think, and I love the standard 1GB RAM on the 8104. It doesn't have as many USB ports or quick launch buttons, but it does have the option for a 2.13GHz sonoma. It's your call dude, but I've been getting great battery life with the 8104 RMClocked, about 4 hours with wi-fi.

I will never go back to non widescreen after having wsxga+. Also, why would I want to go for a slower gpu when the x700 scores higher in benchmarks? Granted the 6600 gives stellar performance in Doom 3.

Ha, got my answer then I am a Half Life man myself not a Doom BFG killer.

Still going for the 8104, since I do development the added realestate will be nice. Going out of town for a few days wish I could of gotten an order off before hand. Darn.

Any advice on where to get it ?
(sorry for any hijacking of the thread)
