weight of the 700m

Thread Starter
can someone tell me the exact weight of the 700m, with the 4 cell and the 8 cell? i wanted to know if someone has the exact weight measures of those. and is dell's 4.1 lbs description of the 700m with 4 cell accurate? thanks in advance to those who reply.

I did some reading on here and there's a thread out there with the exact weights...took some digging to find. Some guy worked at a place with a very accurate scale and weighed it as like 4.18 w/ 4 cell and 4.58 with 8 cell.

why would you need the exact weight measurements?

I'll let you know when mine arrives

On my Stamps.com eletronic scale i got:
8 cell 4:10.1
4 cell 4:02.7

i have 4.5lbs with 8cell + bluetooth pc card

the thing is light. its hard to imagine it being much lighter.

and the weight you should really want to know is how much it weighs with the power adapter, cause that thing is a good percentage of total weight.

i carry two 8 cells with me...lighter that way, and i can go all day without having to lug around that power cord

I'm the aforementioned "some guy." And I'm weighing these things again on three seperate scales! Unfortunately, I don't have my standard battery with me. I'll do it tomorrow. I don't know what you need this info for, but I'm having fun.

The laptop with the extended battery is 4.6 lbs (+-0.05).
That's 4 pounds 9.6 ounces (+-0.1).
(That stamps.com scale must measure poundsunces.)

The A/C adapter is 0.85 lbs. Or 13.8 ounces.

My backpack with my books, binder, latop w/ext batt, mouse, calculator, cables, etc. weighs in at a back-breaking 24.6 lbs!

The Latitude X1 weighs almost exactly half the weight of the 700m With the extended battery.

1.1kg vs 2.08kg

Can someone also please post the minimum operational weight. That is, the 700m with slim batt and weight saver module.
there is no weight saver module from what i can gather...well i didn't get one, and i repeatedly asked dell for one

as for the lat x1, it maxes out at 1.1 ghz, you need an external d/bay (so add that weight in) for optical drive and the nuissance of having an extra thing that isn't conveniently packaged. plus how long does the 6-cell last?

anyways starting at 2.5lbs, add .5 lbs for the 6 cell, then add an extra 1+ lbs for the d/bay and drive for a total 4+ lbs, which gives you about .5 lb less than the 700m with 8-cell. so let's rethink weight savings of the x1

the nice thing about the x1 is that it has internal bluetooth

Dear "some guy", thanx for the measurements!
what about the weight of just one battery? esp the 8 cell?
8-cell is 1/2 lbs
lappie without battery is 3 lbs
lappie with 8-cell is 4.5 lbs
lappie with 4-cell is 3.5 lbs
power adapter is 1/2 lbs

this is with modem, wireless adapter, bluetooth pc card, and optical drive in.

Your body weight is better secured and attached to your person than any laptop would be (in the near future, anyway) so you're not going to notice the change as much

if by "as much", you mean "not at all".. than yeah.. seriously, 4.1 lbs is pretty stinkin light..
If 4.1lbs is heavy... go lift some weights...
