Careful, every time someone logs into WoW, god kills a hard drive (see the Desktop forum for an example)

Lost an employee to it this month, he would rather sit at home, by himself and play WoW then come into to work (the measley 3 days we require). When I axed him, he was thankfull, said he could now devote 100% to WoW. Seems like some sort of twisted crack habit to me.

My god how true. Thankfully its the end of the semester for me but if i would have gotten this game earlier i would have probably dropped out of school. Yes its a crack habit (MUCH WORSE then EVERCRACK) and i cant even begin to imagine how many people have lost their jobs, and even families to this game. It is addictive and if you dont have enough control....IT WILL ENGULF YOU

Edit: almost forgot I play on the "Silvermoon" server ,name: "Crappybaka"

Great game, up until recently was doing 10+ hours a day. Currently have a character on uther server, non PvP, and he is a level 54 Night Elf Warrior. Got him there in about 6 weeks Plus I also made a lvl 20 warlock on some other PvP server during that time.

I play it, I'm a 37 Dwarf Hunter on Mannoroth, a pvp server. It's a great game, you can solo or you can group. I must say though 9 times out of 10 I solo just because the rest of the people tend to be idiots and I'll be safer on my own, not to mention get more money, exp and the green drops I need. Occasionally you do find a good group to do quests with, but I've found that to be rare, and even rarer when pallidans are thrown into the mix. I can't even say exactly why I'm so addicted to it, I think it's the curiosity on what is going on, what am I going to get next level, how's that work, that keeps me highly intrigued. I love their professions system. I've got 2 professions tailoring and enchanting (yeah I know, strange for a hunter, but oddly it works) And those are also very fun, I can make bags for folks in my guild and enchant some pretty nice stuff on weapons. I haven't gotten to the point of actually making money on enchanting, but I hope that will be soon as I need to save up the gold for my mount.
The hoard isn't that bad on most occasions, Yeah there are the people that will kill you on sight even if it only takes one hit for them to kill you, but I've found a fair number that as long as I leave them alone they'll leave me alone, and that makes life easier. I have had the occasion to have a bit of fun with hoard close to my level where I fire off one stun shot, and then just leave. Just to mess with them in a mostly harmless way.
I don't have any screen shots as I'm at work right now, but if you do a search on google or thottbot I am sure you will find screen shots galore.

I recommend not to get it. You constantly pour money into the game ($50 USD to buy it, $13-15 USD / month subscription fee to play on their servers), and you benefit absolutely NOTHING for playing this game. All this game does is require you invest your TIME into it. The quests and instances are stupid and repetetive. Once you hit around level 55 - 60, all you do is either gank people or do the same damn instances over and over, which is comparable to playing solitaire for hours and hours.

Having said all that, I still play this game, but only because I was stupid and bought a 6 month subscription. But when that time is up, I will QUIT this DRUG of a game. Unless they make it really cool with rumored "Hero Classes," and if the Battlegrounds feature they are going to add is good. heehee

But don't tell me I didn't warn you. Don't get this game.

As opposed to all the benefits of playing any other computer game? Seriously, I don't begrudge you the fact that you may not like MMORPG's but they are all this way, and in the end, they are just games, like any other computer game, and thus inherently worthless in terms of 'benefit', other than enjoyment. The fact that you can interact with other people, and advance your character are two things that no games besides MMORPG's offer. Personally, I save a ton of cash playing MMORPG's, as opposed to regular games. In around 2.5 years since I have been playing MMO's, for the 4 months I played Planetside, the 8 months I played SWG, the 4 months I played CoH, and the 4 months I played WOW, I think I bought 1 other game during that time. However, over that same time, I have bought close to 15 other games during the downtimes between these MMO's. That averages out to about 1 game a month when I am not playing MMO's, or the $15/month when I am....advantage MMO's. (additionally, I sold my SWG account for close to $350 when I was done, basically paying for itself while I played it).

Again, no different than any other MMORPG, and far less repetitive than any non-online game due to the variable of playing against other people.

On to those that wonder, it is a pretty good MMO, imo. More in depth than City of Hero's (my last MMORPG), and fairly un-buggy overall. Solid, and a good easy one for someone who hasn't played an MMORPG before, with enough depth to keep you around for a long while. It has the Warcraft storyline to go along with, which helps draw you in. But do take gsr's advice, and start out paying month per month to see if you will like it.

As to the hard drive thing....I highly doubt it is any more destructive to hard drives than any other game out there. That sounds like total conjecture, or bad luck by a couple of people who have created an internet rumor. My hard drive is fine so far, I won't speak for other people.

You make some very valid points shlomo. I don't disagree with you at all, but I didn't mention that other video games are also a waste of time, because I thought that was a given.

Btw, what realm are you on? I have a 53 paladin on dragonmaw, and a low level UD/Priest on Gorgonnash.
