WHERE ARE THE TURION64 6800/X800 NOTEBOOKS?
They should be out soon, or Dell i9300 it is

I believe that Arima had a model that was A64 and NV41M; although it isn't a Turion-based lapper, it's a start.

Yeah the turion isn't officially out yet, and very few laptops have been announced based on it yet...

There are no know Turion notebooks with either of those cards...at most they have the x700/6600, but a lot have integrated graphics or an x300/6200 because they want to stress the mobility aspect of it...

Turion laptops may never see such video cards, because they don't have architectural differences when compared to their normal mobile/DTR versions like the Pentium M does (compared to the Pentium 4.) As a result, the performance is similar in all of them, and there really isn't as much point in putting a low-power processor into a laptop with a big thermal envelope video card.

Although pairing a cool running, low power processor with a powerful gpu would ultimately make too much sense, its doubtful that a combination like that will occur with turion notebooks. Its really sad, I think there'd be a sizeable market for it.

Haha, so I guess AMD is gonna be screwed out of the "light, DTR" notebook arena, like the 9300 and the XPS2... That's too bad, it'd be nice to have a 8 lb 17" Turion 6800go lappy Intel wins again

How about a non-Turion laptop? Just a regular mobile or DTR AMD with x800 or 6800? I shouldn't get my hopes up for such a notebook any time soon?

To tell the truth, I'm amazed that one hasn't been released yet.

What are people's expectations of Turion? Do you think that the 64-bit arch. will surpass the P-M in performance but be able to keep it's battery life? Or will the GPU and VRAM combined with the low-battery necessitation of the P-M take the cake when it comes to performance, especially in gaming?

Should I be waiting for AMD's mobile solution to be able to frag heavily on a laptop?

The Turion is an A64 mobile with much improved battery life, It will be 64 bit, offer similar performance to the Pentium M in most areas, better in some, and offer nearly as much battery life, while costing less, it's all good.

I'm surprised nobody's released a machine with integrated *and* high-end graphics. Cheap integrated chipsets are, well, cheap, and would allow the machine to turn the GF6800 off completely when it's not being used.

Then you fire up Half-Life 2, and the computer turns the beefy video card back on and reroutes the graphics data through it.

I'm fine with anything with 2h+ battery life, fairly silent, 15.4" or 17" monitor and a decent video card (6800/X800)!

I'm also surprised by the fact that companies seem to have decided to not adopt an integrated+dedicated solution system on notebooks. It would allow for the best imaginable balance between battery life and high performance on AC power, although some might argue that its effect would be minimal for those who still require high performance on battery. I guess that it's simply too much to cram into one case, or that companies like the concept of selling DTRs and ultraportables separately.

I know that I'd shell out money the very instant that I saw a Turion 64 with integrated ATi video and a GeForce 6800 Go (Ultra) or Radeon x800 Mobility.
