5680 BIOS update 9-18-03 - Page 4

Yeah, so those dont apply. Wierd.

BTW, I also notice the TrueVector things. Isnt that a part of ATi drivers? Can anyone remind me?
I believe the true vector error was from when I uninstalled the ati drivers but not control panel and it couldn't launch the control panel.

I know now that the game does not have to be running for a long time to shut down, I just started up the game today and as soon as the misson loaded the game closed. It always closes during gameplay not on the menu screen. I'm thinking it might be the game? But it seems very random to when It closes, I can play for 40min before or only 1min.

Oh, I remember now. I saw that TrueVector thing when I was uninstalling ATi drivers to reinstall. Its all coming back now .

Have you tried completely uninstalling ATi drivers and reinstalling?
Yes I have tried that, but I think I figured out the problem. I believe the problem is desert combat mod only on certain maps. Some maps play fine and others won't work, and regular bf1942 does work on those maps so I'm going to reinstall the game and desert combat mod.

So I'm pretty sure it's not my computer which is a good thing.

I've narrowed it down to all dcmod maps that have boats/ships in it, I'm going to head over to the gaming section to ask them.

TrueVector is what ZONE ALARM calls it's monitoring engine (TrueVector monitoring). . . it may also be an ATI thing, though I don't recall that name in the ATI stuff.

I recently put the Omega drivers on and it fixed a TON of the transparent ground problems, however, the game locks up more frequently (about once an hour?).

There ya go! Zone Alarm. I knew that

I seemed to have fixed my problem, they had a patch in the dcmod bug section of their forums.

When I start up the computer it says I have BIOS revision 1.00.0412. Does it need to be updated? (I bought my Sager after the BIOS update was released, but I don't know if that automatically means it has the most recent BIOS)

my five

Okay, so would i benefit from a bios flash? I got my 5660 upgraded to a 5680 and still got the 2.4ghz cpu without ht...also, for you 5680 people...the 5660 seems HEAVYIER that the 5680...cuz when i got it, i thought it was missing something inside, but, yup, it is lighter...either that or sager jacked me..
How can you have a 5680 with a 2.4 w/o HT.... that's not possible.....

umm....

Thats what i currently have unless sager decided to (sneak) a pentium 2.4 ht in my laptop. It does run. checked the settings i have an M10, mobo etc...so it does work...its the same cpu as my previous 5660.

Odd...

Heya,

I just got a NP5680 on 10/30, and it has the downclocked video card as expressed earlier in the thread - but it also has the disable power on beep and all. I'm going to go flash everything now, but that still seems mighty odd. Perhaps Sager isn't using the right BIOS version? I'm really kind of curious to know why this is happenning.

Hm...I flashed my BIOS and the clock / memory speeds are still 344/236 according to PowerStrip...

Help?

Tell powerstrip to redect the card, should fix the problem..
Actually, PowerStrip didn't detect a clock speed change (I told it to refresh several times to no avail) until I installed the latest Omega drivers. Odd.
