Mine should be here soon too, it’s in transit. Looks like I’m getting the LG screen and the Sony DVD burner.

I don't think the 'J9662' means you will have a LG LCD. Other people have said they had that number and received a Samsung. Anyways, I had the LG LCD and it was fine. The Samsung/LG thing is all a bunch of hype. Don't believe everything you hear. Well except this I suppose.

Thanks azote....I got

(for the LCD) J9662 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, Wide Ultra Extended Graphics Array, GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, LENGTH/LONG

(for the DVD/RW) P7464 ASSEMBLY, DVD+/-RW, 8X, SONY, INSPIRON, SULLIVAN/TOBAGO

and

(for the Hard Drive) X8196 HARD DRIVE, 100G, 9.5, 5.4K, LEAD FREE, FUJITSU, ZEUS 60 HDD

Are these good? Personally I am very open to whatever I get. I understand that whichever screen I get...I got a bargain. Personally, I am expecting the LG/Samsung think to be a big hype...I hope anyway. This is my first laptop...so I guess I'll be happy with it regardless and have it to use as a benchmark for future lappy's.

Well, the Sony drive is not as good as the NEC, but it is ok. The HD seems ok too.

Crap, a lead free hard drive. Now you have to be careful around nuclear explosions because you'll have no EMP protection.

Well, what do you know!

I received my ship notice on Sunday, and as of this moment UPS shows the laptop in Florida already with a delivery date of tomorrow. Not bad for ground shipping!

Looks like I'm flying to Florida next week... the boat might not be going for a couple weeks and both of our laptops are just sitting there waiting for us.

If I need one anytime soon (my wife's laptop has a nice burner in it) then I'll get that one. Otherwise I'll wait until I really need one and get the "latest and greatest" at that point.
