Congrats to all you guys who finally got your notebooks.

I've been messing around testing things and networking and still haven't gotten around to installing any games yet. After checking out some other notebook screens today and becoming increasingly annoyed by the LG, I called Dell for a replacement screen. I'm crossing my fingers that it'll be a Samsung so I can see the difference for myself. Who knows, I might prefer the LG and decide to live with it.

I'm just about to a full re-install. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly and I can raise my benchmark scores a bit. Then maybe I can finally get down to gaming.

The local Dell tech came and swapped my LG for a Samsung today, less than 24 hours after I called support. It's a mixed bag. Now having seen both, they both have their strengths and weaknesses, but I'll be keeping the Samsung because it just bothers me less than the LG. I've updated my review with a more detailed comparison.

I have read through about 25 pages of this EPP and 33% off stuff and couldn't find what I was looking for. What is EPP? and can you still get the discount? Simple as that. I just bought a 9300 and if I could return it and get an XPS2 for about the same price I would. Thanks

EPP is an employee/student/faculty discount and you can only qualify if your place of employment or university is partnered with Dell. Dell sent out a code that gave 33% to EPP members via e-mail and all of us here used it. It is no longer available so you're out of luck for now.

I got a phone call today at the airport as I was about to board telling me that order # thus and such was delayed 1 week. I have 2 orders - an order for Halo for PC, an order for an XPS Gen 2, and my dad has an order for a print cartridge under my name by accident. When I called back the gentlemen on the phone was very confused, and showed no delay on my XPS Gen 2...so I relaxed, thinking the delay is for a different order.

Lo and behold I get home and there's an email telling me that my XPS Gen 2 has been delayed 1 week. It's been "in boxing" since Monday. How was it delayed one week? It should be in the USA by now. And why are they so confused giving conflicting information? The order status page says that is still boxing and should be shipping soon (???)

The email links me to Dell Chat which does not work, further confusing me.

YESYESYESYES! I got it, it is awesome, i left home from school early, my dad signed for it, gotta leave in 22 min to make my last class, so far LCD is great, good viewing angles, screen seems a bit reflective, RESPONSETIME is great much better than the my 8600's samsung, so far I am loving the screen, a very slight amount of light leakage that doesnt bother me, the keyboard is awesome, i turned off the LED's from the bios because I dont want them on in class however they turned back on when windows booted, I dont have enough time to reformat the machine until I get home after school, can anyone tell me a quick way to turn of these LED's in windows? initial benchmarks look great, havent run anything excessive just q3 but still 540 FPS @ 640x480 (normal setting) and 327 FPS @ 1920x1200 everything at max, awesome... havent even installed the good drivers yet. let me know about the LED's
