I ordered the RoadWired - Skooba Compact Sleeve from them today after reading the 7 pages of comments in this thread. Anyway, I posted a link below. You'll end up paying for shipping after getting the $10 off. For me, that meant I saved $2 over the easier to find 10% off + free shipping coupons available elsewhere. BTW, I bought a Roadwired bag for my digital camera a few years back and the quality is excellent and it has served me well.

Can someone please tell me what's wrong with the inspiron carrying case that Dell sells? I know its not made speciifcally for the 700m but it should still fit pretty good. Is there something that I'm missing?

expensive...i didnt want a huge bag for my 700M, it doesnt do it any justice. Unless you want to put a bunch of stuff in there. its like having a hot chick wear baggy clothes, wouldnt u want to see the curves. =)

Is the case really that big?

my Dell rep gave me the bag for free but i might end up selling it when it comes in

if anyone is looking for a case from targus, then targus.com has a 15%off coupon with the code "register"....

thanks to slickdeals for that one..

not sure if targus.com can offer better pricing than what can be found on other websites like amazon and ebags, but its worth a shot if you find something you really want on targus.com

my white Timbuk2 (in small) came in today.

fits the 700m perfectly (even with the 8cell). now i have the Shinza sleeve and this, which is really nice because i can alternate between using the sleeve (that goes into another bag) or the Timbuk which is messenger style. i can't fit anything else in it though, so it's pretty much a messenger sleeve.

paid almost 60$ for this. worth it. it has very nice corduroy cushioning.

Pulling an old, but good thread, I've ordered my 700m and should be coming tomorrow morning/afternoon. Now I'm looking for a sleeve, or snug bag. Has anyone considered the new sleeve-bag from RoadWired: http://www.roadwired.com/store/Product.cfm?Productid=53 ? To be honest, I'm still considering the ZeroShock from the first page, and just put it in my backpack, or also get the Timbuk2 Messenger Bag (page 3) to use as my alternative to my backpack. As a final choice...I may choose the Timbuk2 Grip Sleeve (above post). But I do wonder why they don't offer the x-tra small, even though they list it. Oh decisions!! >.<;

Keyone, that sleeve-bag is the one i have from roadwired, the APS Compact Sleeve. It does the job nicely for the 700M in my opinion...

Will the 700m fit OK in these two backpacks? or will there be a lot of extra room ill have to worry about

I think that the best rule of thumb is: Laptop -> Sleeve -> Bag (backpack messanger or otherwise).

Especially with the 700m (and other small notebooks) you will find that the notebook is usually smaller than the pouch in the bag and will have some "slop".

I'm expecting my 700m in tommorrow and a Roadwired APS Compact sleeve later this week or early next.. when I have all of that stuff together I am going to put together a graphical (pictures!) review of the 700m, the Roadwired APS and the two bags I have that I will use it with... because I think a lot of people looking at 700m's have a load of the same questions over and over regarding the notebook, the sleeves and bags.. I know I did.
