BestCase for Dell 700m yet reasonably light and small - Page 7

Tough choice. I'm currently looking for a bookbag that I can put my 700m in so I don't have to carry 2 bags (one for lappy, one for books).

I have an old Timberland bag that works well for books + laptop. The only draw back is that just about any bag, backpacks in particular will have "slop" space in the pouch the laptop is in. That is one of the two reasons I ordered a sleeve as well. I can put the 700m in the sleeve, put the sleeved notebook in the pouch and reduce the "slop". Beyond that it's one more layer of protection for my laptop from [dropping, collisions, slamming books, (inseret reason here)].

I just spent a thousand bones on a nice new laptop.. I have no qualms about shelling out 30 bucks for a sleeve to protect it.

Yeah, I think a sleeve + backpack is definitely the way to go. Have to start researching sleeves soon aka reading this thread from page 1.

I did that. For me it was a toss up between the Shinza and Roadwired APS Compact. I just ordered the Roadwired today - while the 700m fits the shinza I felt that it was a snug fit from the pictures I had seen.. and wanted something a little more stand alone portable.. but not so much it was it's own bag (like the Roadwired Skooba). I'll have it in a couple days if you want to wait.. I really do plan to do a full review with pictures and the whole nine yards. It may help you in your decisioning.

I have this sleeve. Good protection without being bulky.

LoL looks nice, but I'd like to have a look at its specs and material and such...not the mention the price! Please leave a url or something, thanks~

I bought it off ebay for 15 or 20 bucks, I don't remember. But here is the japanese site. There is a foam padding inside which offers good protection. A sleeve isn't meant to be your only kind of protection anyways

I just got the 12 inch shinza sleeve for my 700m and it fits perfectly with the 8 cell battery, not too tight at all and the memory foam material is awesome. Definately a good sleeve, fits great.

Does it fit the 700m with the extended battery? Or just the regular battery?

Is it large enuff to include power pack in bag?

BTW, I bought Targus DVD001 13" Portable DVD Player Case for $35. It holds everything: 700m, 8 cell battery, power pack, and mouse. While the case is not thin, it fits everything well with the 8 cell battery removed from laptop. Here is a link. Surprised no one has mentioned a DVD player case for 700m

It fits PERFECTLY and it is very inexpensive. Havn't used it long enough to determine the actual quality of the material and design.

If you are minimalist and want the smallest bag possible with minimal padding and professional look, then this is the bag to get.

Padding is very minimal like i mentioned, so don't expect this bag to 'protect' your laptop. Because its so small and thin, it can be used as a sleeve. I am able to put it into my backpack and use it like a sleeve for more protection.

I got the Roadwired APS. It should be coming tomorrow. I wanted something that was small so I could just slip it into my bookbag.

700m Sleeves

I am currently developing a barebone sleeve design for the 700m. It would be a simple neoprene sleeve with a "flap" cover that is secured by velcro. No pockets, zippers, or handles. Intended for use in a backpack or under-arm carrying. I am projecting a cost of <25$ depending on demand. If you are interested please express that interest by emailing me, or replying in this forum. I would be making them for the extended battery version as that seems to be the most popular. 700m rocks, integrated graphics CS 1.6 anyone??

i'm interested in your product; however, I would like to see pictures of it before I buy it.

Yeah, I hear ya man. Integrated graphics > 6800 Ultra.

here is the backpack i got for mine...plenty of room for the comp and books and all accessories. it even has a "junk drawer" built into it that slides out from the side which i absolutely love to death, and it also helps add support to the bottom of the back..very nice product indeed and would reccomend it to anyone. can also be used as an "saddlebag" as well

I have a nice Kensington laptop case/bag called the "Compact Duo" - http://www.kensington.com/html/5729.html

I love it for when I don't want to take my backpack around. I got it at Circuit City (cuz Best Buy is the devil).

I got my APS Compact yesterday and its really nice. The 700m fits snugly and there's room for some external accessories. Don't think about jamming bulky things though.

The main selling point for me was that I can put it in my bookbag and have it protected.

is there room for the AC adapter in the RoadWired APS Compact??
