BestCase for Dell 700m yet reasonably light and small - Page 2

Thanks RLiu, I just purchased that bag, at that price you can't beat it. It seems small enough, just the way I wanted it.
I'll let everybody know how I like it when I get it.

It fits PERFECTLY and it is very inexpensive. Havn't used it long enough to determine the actual quality of the material and design.

If you are minimalist and want the smallest bag possible with minimal padding and professional look, then this is the bag to get.

Padding is very minimal like i mentioned, so don't expect this bag to 'protect' your laptop. Because its so small and thin, it can be used as a sleeve. I am able to put it into my backpack and use it like a sleeve for more protection.
Can you post pictures? Does it have any extra room for anything else?

i dont have a digital camera.

there is a pocket on the back that can fit papers, but i dont recommend it unless u dont mind have yoru papers all bent and crinkled. its still good for putting paper items like envelopes, receipts, or even cds and discs.

in the front pocket i can fit my AC adapter, an ethernet cable, and a notebook mouse. putting those items will just create a bulge, but they still fit in there nicely and the front pocket is zipped too. (the backpocket is velcro)

Nice bag at ebags.com there for $15 you can't go wrong. Skimmed the 169 reviews and 75% of them were saying it's a perfect fit for the Dell 700m...

The 15 inches has some extra space, so makes no sense buying a small notebook and walk around with a bigger case.

I will sell at EBay!! Arghh!

Post the pix when you get it!! Well, after you leave overnight to do the streching!!
Thanks!!
why did you buy or other people buy the zeroshock off of ebay rather than buying it directly from shinza.com for less? don't understand that one.

anyways, the 12" is very snug with 8cell. you may start noticing fabric stretch around the seems. i've had mine for several months now.

i like the case and leave one end open facing the top of my backpack. this prevents it from stretching as well as allowing quick removal and insertion back into the case.

i personally think the zeroshock is rather gimicky and does not provide the shock protection in real life scenario. sure, you maybe able to drop a steel ball on top of it, but the real world scenario is if you drop your backpack down and the lappie is in the zeroshock in the backpack. in this scenario, there is little to no cushioning for the laptop

i like the case, but just be aware of what you are going to get.

if you are not using it like i am, i would seriously recommend the 15" and hopefully, if enough of us write shinza.com, they may be tempted to just come out with a 13" or 14" that is more suitable for the 700m.

when cold the foam does not stretch easily, so what is stretching is the fabric holding the foam and the weak point is around the seem. considering the 15" gives some space, it will provide better side protection than the tight 12"....if you notice, even with the new version of the 12" with the wire frame, there is absolutely no padding to the zipper sides, and if you notice the stretch of the material at the seem you will notice the foam is not stretching, but the fabric encasing it is what is stretching when the foam is cold.

What do you guys think about this laptop?

It is bag of the year (2005)..

I have a back pack with a little mini pocket for a laptop in the back, i was thinking of buying that above case (the above link on ebay) and putting my laptop in it, then placing it in my backpack.

I want to carry a textbook atleast or maybe a (1inch)folder inside the laptop case.

No one likes the above case i posted about?
Well, I went ahead and ordered the case you posted about. I hope it's a good case...

The bag of the year or the shizia?

Either one, tell us how it works out with the 700m/8cell bat.

thanks

Trinispeed,

I ordered that case you posted. Placed my order last Friday - it's scheduled to arrive this Thursday (4/21). I just received my 700m today so I'm looking forward to checking the bag out. I also ordered this bag: http://www.ebags.com/sumdex/compact_...?modelid=42698 as both bags had gotten positive reviews (on eBags) from 700m users.

I ordered the RoadWired Skooba Sleeve.

Incidentally, the Bag of the Year model is actually the Skooba Satchel, a different bag. The magazine is Laptop Magazine.

Im thinking of just getting a sleeve for my 700m and just putting it in my backpack (that has a place for a laptop but not that padded).

The Shinza one is cool, but it doesnt fit 100% with the extended battery..

Anyone know of one that fits, or does Shinza make a 13'' version?
trinispeed,

if you're looking for a nice sleeve for the 700m, look into the MARWARE sleeves, made specially for the Apple 12 inch notebooks. I just got mine from my university's bookstore and it looks real neat. Fits perfectly with the 8 cell extended battery.

Just my 2 cents.

I love the timbuk2 bag, it's awesome

I ordered the Roadwired APS compact...a sleeve should be a sleeve, and a pack should be a pack.

Do you have the 8 cell battery? And how tight is the Shinza sleeve?
Thanks

The shinza sleeve and my 700m with 8 cell battery is not tight at all.
the shinza sleeve and my 700m with 8cell is tight. i think there are different tolerances or perceptions of what is tight. for me, having the thing for several months now, there is much stress along the seems. the padding isn't actually sewn into the seem, but it is encased in stretchable fabric. the foam is pliable and relaxes, but when cooler, it is not as pliable and will shrink some.

i can see from all the photos people posted, the edges overlap the seem piping as it does with mine. althought he zipper may close easy enough, the corner is right up against it. there really is no protection on three sides, just zipper.

anyways, i still do not recommend the 12". I sold mine to someone with an apple and just bought a roadwired APS compact sleeve.
